Infertility and the military?

Hi everyone I am new here!

TTC #2 since June 2008. Since January I have had over 20 vials of blood taken and pages of results coming back normal. BP is normal, everything looking great.

My cycles are all over the place and I have pain in my ovaries. I had my son in December 2007. Was on depo for 2 cycles(6 months) been wanting another baby since right after my second shot. Should have been out of my system in June, last time I got off AF came right on time. This time I did not get it till October 31. 2nd cycle lasted 33 days. 3rd 48 days. 4th 29 days, 5th 31 days. I am currently about to start on CD25(April 14th) and still have not Oed yet, so I am looking at another long cycle.

I had an ultrasound and trans vaginal ultrasound done in Feb, came back normal with 1 normal size cyst. They wanted to do a repeat but the pain I had after lasted over a week, to the point I could not move, I was throwing up and I missed having sex at O time.

I do not have PCOS, I think I have endo. My docs only want to put me on birth control and pain pills, they dont think I will concieve by november, even though things look normal. They refuse to give me test results and wont do testing I want(like a laparoscopy).

So anyone know what the military covers for infertility? Am I pretty much doomed to not having a second(or 4th) child?

They wont give me clomid because they want me on BC and pain meds, and dont want me to have twins(I want twins)

Military installations depending on where you are at have the means to do a laprascopy and to prescribe chlomid....If I were you I'd ask for a referal off base if the will not do it on base.

In the event that you do need IVF, there are 2 military installations that do it, but you have to get on the waiting list...and there are still out of pocket expenses if you are found to qualify.

Also, just because you go through treatment, there is no guarantee that you'll end up with multiples. Your chances are a little higher, but there is no guarantee.

If you'd like more info...pm me and I'll give you the information on what you need to do.

I had to get a referral off base to an RE because the base I am at doesn't have much in terms of anything. Tricare only covers diagnostic treatments and some meds when you go off base. I live too far away from the bases that offer much in terms of infertility. I had to send my husband to San Diego to get his diagnosis (out of pocket travel expenses). I have so far gotten surgeries paid for by tricare, and meds that I could get on base (such as estrogen, progesterone, and hcg). As soon as I get the "infertility" diagnosis- Tricare stops. The only things I can get paid for are those things I can get on base at that point (blood work, u/s, some meds). The other thing I hear is that they will pay for things that will allow you try to conceive naturally (non ivf or iui). I hope this helps. I am still figuring this out, but it is nice to have someone else in the military system to go through it with me.

TriCare has paid for all of our testing (HSG, Laparo, and S/A) as well as medications-Clomid, Femara and Metformin. I am going to an off post RE this month to start the IUI process. Fortunately through my blog I know another Army wife who sees this RE and let me know that TriCare will pay for my IUI meds but we will pay about $400 for the actual IUI. This RE also does IVF (basic) for about $7500.
