I was 19
DH and I started TTC 3 months before we got married. I was 19 and the 1st Dr refused to treat me because I was "too young". I knew I wanted kids very young and Dh and I are raising his daughter from his 1st marriage. Many dr's later here we are still without what we want so much. Our day will come. This month is 5 years of marrigae .

I had half of my right ovary removed when i was 11 due to a large cyst. Always had painful periods. We had been not, not TTC 2000. I went to an obgyn in 2002 after we were married and he said we were young and dont worry it will happen. Well nothing happened!!!!! August 2007....... woke up one day not feeling "right". Headed into work and left as soon as i got there bc the pain was so bad. Went to the hospital, had tons of tests done, they found a growth on left ovary. Went to obgyn who was CRAZY!!! The only good thing she did was order bloodwork. Had 2 abnormal blood tests. Consulted with oncologist, went back to my previous and wonderful obgyn. They did my surgery in 09/07 and found stage IV endo with tons of scar tissue, compartmentilzation(not sure i spelled that right),they blew out my tubes and removed half of my left ovary. TTC since 11/07 with OPK-
. Started clomid in may . going for round 2 now. for for all of us!!!Sorry its so long!!!

I'm 25 and we just went through our initial tests.
I went off the pill last summer. I got a BFP a month later but had an early miscarriage a week later. My period has never been regular, even on BC pills. I never knew when it was going to come. I had one every month, it just never came when it was "supposed" to. Since going off of them, I can't find a pattern. Then, I didn't have a period from January-April. That's never happened before. My doctor said that they wouldn't refer me to a specialist until I've missed 3 cycles in a row. So at the beginning of April I went to the fertility specialist. My husband's SA came back perfect. I had a cyst on my left ovary (going in for another Pelvic u/s to check on it tomorrow) and the hsg said my right tube is blocked. My LH and testosterone levels are elevated too. She wants me to start on metformin. Beyond that, I don't know much else. I have literally 2 pages of questions to take to my next appointment (on Fri).

I talked to my OB at 28 because I had stopped having periods. He "wasn't worried about it." When I moved and changed OBs at 30, I got a different story. I was put on clomid briefly, which jumpstarted my periods again, but was found to have PCOS. I saw an RE at age 33.

I used to got pregnant quite easily with another partner, I remember I got pregnant twice when I was 32, but I was not ready for babies at that time, so I went abortion; after I met my husband when I was 36, due to his issue (low motility sperm), we have to go through IVF, started July 08, in the first cycle, I did not responde well to stim, now we change to microscropt flare protocol, hopefully....
What I will tell my friends or my niece is: get ur kids before 30 if you want to have kids, otherwise time can change everything... Good luck everyone

I first went for fertility help at the age of 43. I was engaged for the first time at 42 and my Ob/Gyn told me at my annual appt not to wait to see an RE since time was getting short. I relocated several months later and immediately made an appt with an RE. within 2 months of getting married (though we had started trying before that). I'm so glad that I didn't hesitate. I had no idea how quickly your fertility can drop.

I found out just today, officially. I am 18, and I turn 19 in 8 days. It's due to difficulties with PID, never STD or STI related. I still ovulate, but my uterus is very scarred.

I had no idea i had fertility problems. After 3 yrs ttc, dh decided to check if he had a problem. We found out he had low count/low motility, diagnosed with varicocelle. When we moved to Toronto, he started to look for treatment, and we decided to check a fertility clinic looking for a urologist for him. The fertility dr. put him in a waiting list for surgery, but also prescribed me a list of tests.
First ultrasound showed PCOS, quite mild but he put me on metformin and sent me to hsg. Hsg showed scar tissue in my tubes, slight blockage in one tube, total blockage on the other one. Btw, the hsg was the worst pain i've ever had! Next, i was sent to laparoscopy. That was just a week ago... It just so happened that one of my tubes was already opened, 100%, but it was misdiagnosed in the hsg due to muscle contractions. Anyway, everything was cleared and we are ready to the next step. Because dh's boys will take about 3 months to (maybe) increase the count and quality, we will be trying a iui on my next cycle. ![]()

My grandmother had trouble TTC in the 1930s/40s. Took her 5 years to get baby that died at birth, 4 more years to get baby #1, 3 more years for baby #2 ,then 18months for baby #3. I have always had a gut feeling I would have trouble. Don't know why or how I knew, I just did. Took BC pills for 12 years as teen and 20's. Got married at age 29. TTC naturally for 1 year, got worried. Second year got all of the testing out of the way. Nothing wrong with DH or I. We are considered unexplained. I had plenty of follicles and very mild endometriosis which was removed. Third and fourth year went to RE and started the IUI's with clomid then follistem. Did it 4 times w/BFN. Latter half of fourth year and fifth year tried naturally with herbs, acupucture and chinese medicine. No luck. Sixth year went back to RE for IVF at age 35 (now). First IVF was cancelled due to poor ovarian reserve, now only 7 follicles and 2 matured. Did 5th IUI w/BFN. Took 3 cycles off due to holidays and office being closed. Will try IVF again end of january. Knowing what I know now I would have not done the IUI's and went straight for the IVF a long time ago. Good luck to everyone.

This year actually. I've been amenorrheic for over a year, so I went to the doctor and had a gyno appointment. My doctor happens to be an OB/GYN also so I kind of lucked out. Turns out to be PCOS, Amenorrhea, and follicular cysts. I was building up linings like I was going to have periods, I just wouldn't shed them
. She put me on Metroxyprogesterone to get me to shed it then is setting me on Metformin to start regulating it. I was lucky to get a good doctor who seemed to actually care. I've read things about doctors just pushing off patients.

It's great to find a place where we are able to share our experiences with others with similar issues. I saw these forums a few months ago but just joined. DH and I have been together for 7 years, married since July 07. I stopped using BC when I was about 20 or so. We have not been using any protection for years. After a year of marrige and not once being pregnant, and irregular periods, I informed my doctor during my physical. Not officially diagnosed with PCOS, but highly possible. Did u/s which discovered multiple cysts on both ovaries. I was referred to an OB/GYN who prescribed clomid 50mg, with
. Went on 2nd round at 100mg, with . During my second cycle, had a weird experience; began on 11/1/08 and I went on clomid as directed CD:5-9. showed again on 11/18/08, Dr. claimed it was nothing to worry about. He prescibed a 3rd round, which I haven't started, since there has not been an as yet. At this point, I am not comfortable with my Dr., due to the distance and the lack of monitoring. I feel as though he has just been giving me the meds, instead of trying to figure out what's going on at this stage. I have an appt with a new OB/GYN on 1/8/09 that's closer to where I live, hope all goes well and I get a good vibe.I that we all are blessed with during the new year!!!

I just remember getting off BC at 32 and not getting pregnant. All of friends started having their first baby and their I was still trying. I knew then I needed to do something. I went to my Gyn and he said he could not see anything wrong with me. Within weeks I was
. It turned out to be ectopic and when he opened me up he found alot of scare tissue and adhesions on, near my fallopian tubes. So that mystery was solved. But when I think about it there were periods when I first got married at 21 where I was not on BC and never got preggers I just thought I was lucky. Wow, I did not know how unlucky I would be in the baby making business.
