i started with RE just prior to 30th bday

i have a robertsonian translocation that i learned about after 2 miscarriages and into my 3rd pregnancy. We started trying after 3 years of marriage and within a few months had a BFP. I learned at my 2nd u/s that the heartbeat was slower than normal and follow ups revelade the heart beat had stopped. I had a d&c and learned the baby had a chromosomal abnormality and let it go to not meant to be. my doctor is great and order labsfor me and hubby. I avoided the labs and concieved a few months later when we resumed trying after waiting the recommend 3 cycles post d&c. And i miscarried this one on my own so no testing was done. I went to trying again also a few months later and yeah another BFP. Well at one of my OB appts my doctor asked why i had not done the labs and told me to get to it. So i reluctantly went and was fearful of the results. And as i should have been because hubby was perfect and i have a balance Rob. Trans. of 13,14. Which should be familiar to me b/c that is what my first pregnancy was. Anyway i worried the remainder of my pregnancy, saw my ob and met with the mat-fet specialist as i was closely followed. to make matter worse i was diagnosed with my baby having a single unbilical artery (SUI) also called a 2 vessel cord. And while this could mean nothing at all, it was also a soft indicator of birth defects. I refused the highly recommend amnio as i was not terminating this pregancy no matter what and what may be wrong was not fixable. i prepared for the worst and found losts of support groups for trisomy 13 and trisomy 14 parents and i just prayed. Well God blessed me with a perfect 46xx and my little girl is just beautiful and i feel happy knowing she will not suffer inher reproductive years from a bal. Rob. Trans.
I spoke to ob about seeing a specialist for fertility for pgd as i was studing this all the while i was pregnant with my little girl. She made no recommendations and told me to do what i felt best. I sought out the RE about 6 months prior to wanting to concieve again. He was brutally honest and said he would be glad to treat me but mention how hard it all would be and the high cost and he stated "i have seen people goes miles out of the way to never have to cross that bridge" reffering to IVF and PGD versus natural conception and amnio and terminating abnormal pregnancy. I am in the process just past 30 as i intended and just had my first ever egg retrieval. And this is all survivable as i look at my sweet little girl and dream about a home full of little blessings. And if this doesn't work and the money runs out as i am all out of pocket for everything from labs, to meds to procedures(Blue Cross Blue Shield of LA SUCKS)... well then and when that happens i may have to revisit my morals and see if they can be persuaded. But my current prayers are that God appreciates all this effort and blesses me again and that he too can help me avoid that bridge. So I hope for all for everyone of us and i for sweet little blessings for us to guide through life.

I was 19

DH and I started TTC 3 months before we got married. I was 19 and the 1st Dr refused to treat me because I was "too young". I knew I wanted kids very young and Dh and I are raising his daughter from his 1st marriage. Many dr's later here we are still without what we want so much. Our day will come. This month is 5 years of marrigae .

I had half of my right ovary removed when i was 11 due to a large cyst. Always had painful periods. We had been not, not TTC 2000. I went to an obgyn in 2002 after we were married and he said we were young and dont worry it will happen. Well nothing happened!!!!! August 2007....... woke up one day not feeling "right". Headed into work and left as soon as i got there bc the pain was so bad. Went to the hospital, had tons of tests done, they found a growth on left ovary. Went to obgyn who was CRAZY!!! The only good thing she did was order bloodwork. Had 2 abnormal blood tests. Consulted with oncologist, went back to my previous and wonderful obgyn. They did my surgery in 09/07 and found stage IV endo with tons of scar tissue, compartmentilzation(not sure i spelled that right),they blew out my tubes and removed half of my left ovary. TTC since 11/07 with OPK- . Started clomid in may . going for round 2 now. for for all of us!!!

Sorry its so long!!!

We started trying a year after we got married in 2004 and the first 6 months I was Oing but no pregnancy and then i started having back to back AO cycles and so I went for my annual in April 05 which I was 22. So we did testing and two rounds of clomid and I got preg a few weeks after my 23rd bday.

I'm 25 and we just went through our initial tests.

I went off the pill last summer. I got a BFP a month later but had an early miscarriage a week later.

My period has never been regular, even on BC pills. I never knew when it was going to come. I had one every month, it just never came when it was "supposed" to.

Since going off of them, I can't find a pattern. Then, I didn't have a period from January-April. That's never happened before. My doctor said that they wouldn't refer me to a specialist until I've missed 3 cycles in a row.

So at the beginning of April I went to the fertility specialist. My husband's SA came back perfect. I had a cyst on my left ovary (going in for another Pelvic u/s to check on it tomorrow) and the hsg said my right tube is blocked. My LH and testosterone levels are elevated too. She wants me to start on metformin.

Beyond that, I don't know much else. I have literally 2 pages of questions to take to my next appointment (on Fri).

I talked to my OB at 28 because I had stopped having periods. He "wasn't worried about it." When I moved and changed OBs at 30, I got a different story. I was put on clomid briefly, which jumpstarted my periods again, but was found to have PCOS. I saw an RE at age 33.

I used to got pregnant quite easily with another partner, I remember I got pregnant twice when I was 32, but I was not ready for babies at that time, so I went abortion; after I met my husband when I was 36, due to his issue (low motility sperm), we have to go through IVF, started July 08, in the first cycle, I did not responde well to stim, now we change to microscropt flare protocol, hopefully....

What I will tell my friends or my niece is: get ur kids before 30 if you want to have kids, otherwise time can change everything...

Good luck everyone

I first went for fertility help at the age of 43. I was engaged for the first time at 42 and my Ob/Gyn told me at my annual appt not to wait to see an RE since time was getting short. I relocated several months later and immediately made an appt with an RE. within 2 months of getting married (though we had started trying before that). I'm so glad that I didn't hesitate. I had no idea how quickly your fertility can drop.

I found out just today, officially. I am 18, and I turn 19 in 8 days. It's due to difficulties with PID, never STD or STI related. I still ovulate, but my uterus is very scarred.

I had no idea i had fertility problems. After 3 yrs ttc, dh decided to check if he had a problem. We found out he had low count/low motility, diagnosed with varicocelle. When we moved to Toronto, he started to look for treatment, and we decided to check a fertility clinic looking for a urologist for him. The fertility dr. put him in a waiting list for surgery, but also prescribed me a list of tests.
First ultrasound showed PCOS, quite mild but he put me on metformin and sent me to hsg. Hsg showed scar tissue in my tubes, slight blockage in one tube, total blockage on the other one. Btw, the hsg was the worst pain i've ever had!
Next, i was sent to laparoscopy. That was just a week ago... It just so happened that one of my tubes was already opened, 100%, but it was misdiagnosed in the hsg due to muscle contractions. Anyway, everything was cleared and we are ready to the next step.
Because dh's boys will take about 3 months to (maybe) increase the count and quality, we will be trying a iui on my next cycle.
