Does HSG Test Affect Cycle?
I had the HSG test on day 9 of my cycle. I had some colored discharge on days 11-13 and then again on days 24-28. I am now on day 36 of my cycle (normal cycle 29-32 days) and haven't had my period. I took a pregnancy test yesterday that came up negative. For those of you who have had this test, did you find the test affected your normal cycle?

The discharged in the days that followed the HSG could very well have been the dye (maybe blood tinged) making its way back out. Other than that, I can't imagine why the procedure would mess with your cycle. Mine was completely normal. Your cycle is ruled by hormones (as you well know) and the procedure wouldn't affect that. Have you called your doctor to talk to him/her about this yet? Perhaps, if an abnormally long cycle is unusual for you, you should put a call in.

I am with Melissa... I don't think HSG would affect your AF. I would call and ask if it is completely out of the line for AF not to show up that long.

I called my doctor when the spotting started again on the 24th day and the nurse said the test could cause my period to come early, but the spotting didn't resemble my period nor was it associated with any other side effects of my period (ie: cramps, bloating, moodiness, etc). I have been ttc for over 2 years now and call my doctor often with questions. I don't want to bug them too much and am often curios what other women have experienced. Amy

Before I had my HSG I always had normal cycles (28-29 days). After my HSG my period was a week late, did a test and it was negative. I called my doctor and he said that it could affect your cycle and cause it to be early or late. Well
 finally showed 8 days late! If you are worried about it you can always call your doctor.

I've heard from many women that they got pregnant RIGHT after their HSG.

ttc #1 3rd iui using clomid was a charm! ds born 3/5/05 (8lbs 6 oz.) ttc #2 6 iui's with clomid iui #7 (2/1/08), femara coupled with follistim (3 follicles produced); hcg trigger; progesterone support starting 2dpiui 2/17/08 2/18/08 beta=544, p4=58 2/25/08 beta=7498 3/7/08 1st ultrasound; heart rate=147, measuring 7w1d 3/20/08 2nd ultrasound; HR=182; 9 weeks! 4/3/08 3rd ultrasound; HR=167; measuring 11 weeks 5 days! 4/10/08 no more progesterone...eek! 4/16/08 1st OB appointment; HR=152; all looks good!; 2nd 5/14/08; HR=150; Anatomy scan 6/9/08-IT'S A BOY!!!! 10/16/08-Sceduled c-section!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had no issues after my HSG. Actually, I've heard it can increase fertility the next few months, since it can flush out any minor blockage.
