Okay, I've been on a regime of healthier diet choices and exercise for about 2 weeks, maybe a bit more. Anyway, I have lost 6.5 pounds. I have an appointment with a nutritionist in a few weeks. She's supposed to be good.

mdbrum- I cannot believe you baked a batch of chocolate chip cookes and only had one! You have some will power there.

cryinginside- Your schedule is intense. Is being that busy a bonus for getting in shape? It sounds like you would burn a lot of calories just keeping up with it.

Kay - I have cravings for things like pesto pasta, garlic cheese bread, coconut curry chicken -- some of my favorite dishes to make. I have cut out highly processed carbs like these because my doctor told me to since our family has a propensity for getting adult onset diabetes, and I have just been tested with a slight case of insulin resistance. What do you do to stave off these cravings?

1 of 2 mommies - Do you use weights for your power walk? I was trying to figure out what would be a good way to enhance this kind of workout.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well with the workouts and food choices.

Well, the week went okay, but I just have such a hard time with snacking!!!! I have been doing good with not stopping to get any kind of snacks on the way home from work or school....and usually when I get home I am home, there's no leaving to buy snacks! I am starting a new workout video. I used to use them and felt pretty good about it, now don't laugh.....Sweatin to the Oldies....I just love the old music and the workouts are pretty good. I picked up 4 or 5 tapes at a pawn shop for next to nothing, so I am adding that this week. At least 2 times per week.

Marilynn, my weights are the two knuckleheads dragging me down the road...lots of arm workout there, lol! Seriously, though, no weights, but I try to pump my arms and keep as brisk a pace as I can without actually jogging...

Had a BAAAAAD weekend. It was DW's birthday...went out for sinful pasta on Saturday...I made eggs benedict on Sunday morning...I made BIG steaks and pecan pie for dinner on Sunday night (yep, we celebrated all weekend, lol!) Eating healthy went right out the window! But I walked, and did a lot of yard work including stacking/hauling a whole bunch of firewood, so I did burn a few calories.

Present status: Currently trying to pretend I don't hear the candy jar next door. All my coworkers are hunting for mid-afternoon sugar buzz.

That's funny Crystal....I gave in and had some Now and Laters today....I am soo addicted to these things. I need to catch the vending people and tell them never to bring these in here again! I did notice that 9 of them only has 120 cals...not too far over my afternoon snack limit...but I didn't eat just 9........shhh, I ate all 15 of them! Gonna have to get up and do some jumping jacks or something!

Crystal,
You gotta celebrate special days--sounds like you had some yummy food this weekend. I love pecan pie.

I've been inline skating pretty religiously and have been keeping up with selecting good food; it's hard though. This is it for me. I'm just so ready to be in shape again. I used to be a runner. I want to lose weight so that I can take that up again. I have a way to go, but it is happening bit by bit.

Talk to you guys later!

Marilyn

I went light on the dinner. Grilled chicken and sweet potatoes, then I went bad I had strawberry shortcake!! Not the whole thing, I shared it with my brother, but boy was it good. I have been working out some(not as much as I would like). I have lost now a total of 7 lbs!! You ladies really do help out, when I have I craving I always think.......What would the ladies think!?

Hi exercise buds, I've been away since last Thurs. I went to Alabama for my aunt's funeral. I haven't been able to read all the past posts to keep up, but I'll try to do this! Hope everyone is doing well. I BLEW it in the eating and exercise depatment for the past week. I put on four lbs . Tosay I was back at it and did a 3.5 mile walk. I really need to get this together. I'm glad to be back with all you!
Kay

This is so true! Its helping me a lot also to resist snacking and eating junk when I'm not really hungry...

Kay, we're all going to have times where "the plan" doesn't quite fit in with real life...you're back on track now, that's what matters.

I've been doing daily hikes with the dogs...rubber boots and raincoat and dashing at breakneck speeds through the dew-soaked woods. The dogs are thrilled with all the extra exercise, and I come out red-faced and sweaty, so I figure it's doing some good. I stepped on the scale this morning, and I think I've lost a few pounds!
