Team Skinnies!

Can you hear that FOG HORN sounding thing (Eee RRRR EERRRR EeeRRRR!!!) reminding us that summer is around the corner?? I don't know about you, but I have at least 10 pounds of "love chub" that I've acquired since I've been with DH and IF that I need to get rid of. The thought of sleeveless T-shirts and anything shorter than a capri is stressing me out. SO, that leaves me with no other choice...lose it! This applies to everyone...those trying to lose weight/get healthy to prepare for BFP, those dealing with the residuals of IF drugs/treatments, or those who have their babies! This is dedicated to overall health.

Since many of us have been on programs that have great tips, read articles with interesting info, or tried some great products...let's share. We could even do things like have a pedometer challenge on a given day and report in at a certain time, share recipes (that you've tested and mastered)...anything that would change things up and make it interesting. If it's one thing I've learned so far ...you improve your chances of reaching your goal when you have others to help motivate you. I'll start...

FYI...any product info that I post will NEVER have hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup listed in the ingredients. These two alone can destroy your progress. I'm a chronic label reader and only buy products without them...you can lose weight without even trying just by cutting them out (unless you have portion control issues like me

I recently found this awesome substitute for Butter/Margarine/Shortening it is Lighter Bake! (Sunsweet&). It is pureed apples and prunes!

I use this in all my muffin/bread (banana, apple, blueberry etc.) recipes and not a single person has been able to tell! It is FAT FREE and go even further with the fat free by using egg beaters instead of eggs (unless you're pregnant...the yolks are really good for you).

Breakfast = This is the best oatmeal I can find. Be aware that there is SACRULOSE (which is Splenda) in the ingredients to keep the sugar down to 1 gram. This stuff keeps you satisfied for a LONG time! I ate it 3 hours ago and I'm still not hungry. I add dried fruit (more fiber) to sweeten it up. Get this...it has only 160 calories, 6g of fiber, and 7g of protein in one packet!

Disclaimer:
The name "Team Skinnies" is inspired by what I've read from a Josee (MamaSoon) post...if you don't like the name...go after her!

Let's lose some weight!! NO MORE GIGGLE!!!

I am with ya Carrie, I am moving to adoption and need to lose/tone some weight that has been slowly adding on since IF began.

I just need to get my butt to the gym and start lifting some weights and running!! As well as eating better, since I went on Metformin, which I am stopping this weekend, I only like carbs and other things skeeve me out. No clue if its just me or the meds. But anyway, I need to start eating more fish, which I really love and stay away from Mac and Cheese which I adore, had it last night.

I a weighing in tomorrow and start my new life...I will be sure to report in to ya with my results!!

Oh, I have some recipes but I will post them later..

That's great! Lifting weights burns tons of calories. We have a universal gym and free weights in our basement, but I admit that I am not consistent in going down there. I think the best thing for me to do is make a list of what I should accomplish each day (set goals). My problem is I ask myself what I feel like doing...well, that's gotten me nowhere

I've already started this week and was searching the internet for good info about exercising during BFP (just in case)...these exercises look great for everyone to do...especially while you're watching TV. I really like the stuff they so with the exercise ball.

Calories Count

How to figure out your daily calorie goal (from Women's Health mag)

There's no getting around this fundamental truth: You can't lose weight unless you burn more calories than you take in. Leslie Bonci, M.P.H., R.D., a sports nutritionist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, recommends these formulas for figuring out your daily calorie goals. Everyone is different, but it will give you a basic idea.

Lazy-Day Calorie Goal
(use on days when you're taking it easy/not exercising):
A. Your weight, in pounds: ____
B. A x 15 = _____
C. B - 500 = _____

Busy-Day Calorie Goal
(use on days when you're active/exercising):
A. Your weight, in pounds: ____
B. A x 18 = ____
C. B - 500 = ____

» Aim for these numbers and you'll lose 1 pound per week, a weight-loss rate that's healthy and super-easy to maintain.

That calculation doesn't work for me. I am unfortunately not losing a lb a week and I work out four hours a week. I eat around 1400-1600 a day. I weigh around 170 (yes I got heavier but I am 5' 11" so it's spread out ;-) ).

170*15 = 2550 - 500 = 2050
170*18 = 3060 - 500 = 2560

Sigh... Maybe this isn't a calculation for taller people.
