Question wondering if i have hormone imbalance

hello everyone. i am VERYYYY new to this.i will not be trying to have a baby for at least a year but am already trying to be proactive and learn. i am engaged to a man whom i have been with for 4 yrs off and on but 100% together for 2. getting married this coming spring. i am struggling with weight, i am at 189 with a goal of about 140 by the wedding. i know, have to hustle but i am have been losing and making progress. i can do it. i know weight affects fertility. we have never TRIED to get pregnant of course but have also never done anything to prevent it. i have never tried during ovulation because we are not married yet and wouldnt WANT to TRY yet. but that time is approaching because i am 29 and WE do not want to wait long after getting married. and i have some worries since it hasnt ever happened since obviously there has been sex, but i have NO IDEA how many times that has lined up with ovulation. over the past 3 yrs (this is so emabarrassing) i have been plucking facial hair from under my chin and on the sides of my chin and going up the side. this terrifies me that i have hormone problems that will prevent us from having babies! some are hard like man whiskers. my best friend has this problem severly and has to SHAVE but you cant tell and she is all girl but she has SEVERELY irregular periods but i do not. i am very regular and i just pluck. i have been reading alot about how to check mucus for ovulation (oh gosh this is so personal) and i seem to be right on so far. this is the first cycle i have ever checked for that. i have never checked this before because i have never felt like i needed to see if my cycles were doing right. there is also another issue, my fiance is a 100% recovered alcoholic and coke user and i wonder if that will permanently cause HIM sperm issues. all of this together has me worried, i feel i was born to be a mother and i am terrified some of these things mean we wont be able to have a family. can anyone tell me HONESTLY is it sounds like we will have problems? i think about this everday now that i know we will be married and it will be "ok" now to try for children. any imput?? someone? i asked my GYNO during my last visit if everything looked ok for having babies and her answer was "well everything is there" but she meant all my organs! can someone with experience please respond, it would mean alot to me. these are MAJOR life issues on this website!!!! also forgot to mention that i do have moderate to severe anxiety that i try to control with meds, exercise and prayer. i guess anxiety can affect all this too huh. somebody please give me some feedback!

Goodness you sound all stressed out. First of all, facial hair can be hereditary and not necessarily a sign of a hormone imbalance. If your periods are regular and your cervical mucus is showing change around ovulation I wouldn't worry too much about it. Perhaps you've just been "lucky" having unprotected sex with your DH, however....maybe the issue is with him and not you. My DH has had issues in the past with coke and alcohol and is to this day a chronic pot smoker and he has been lucky not to have any problems with his sperm count. Can your OB/GYN do some bloodwork to check your hormone levels if you are that concerned about it? Maybe just knowing that you are ok will relax you enough not to worry about what might happen. Good luck in your journey!!!

wondering if i have hormone imbalance

I would greatly appreciate any insight you could provide...when I was eleven years old I had an ovarian cyst that went untreated, and due to complications the ovary was removed. I started my period when I was 12, and as far as i can remember I have never missed one, and typically start around the same time every month. However, I have almost always had problems with facial hair-- and over the last couple years in particular, I put on a great deal of weight for no apparent reason, have seen an increase in the facial hair ( tweezer happy), and am also constantly battling the thinning and loss of the hair on my head. I have been exercising,

Hi Ladies,

From my sig you can see that I am one of many who has PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). There are a couple of signs that go along with this. I was diagnosed with PCOS because I have irregular periods, and under u/s they can see little bumps all over my ovaries that are too numerous to count (tiny cysts). I do have facial hair (not too severe, but enough to be annoying) and unexplained weight gain. So if you google PCOS you can find lots of info on it, but I do believe that you have to have irregular periods and constant cysts, which can be controlled, to have PCOS, but I'm not expert.

I wouldn't be too concerned at this point if you haven't been trying during ovulation. I would advise that if your doctor would agree to have a HSG, dye test of the tubes, done before trying to conceive. We wasted a year and a half trying to conceive on our own with no luck. When we met with our RE she suggested this test. We found out that both tubes were blocked and severely damaged, and there was no explanation as to why. This was such devastating news to me. We had done all the ovulation kits, which showed us when we were ovulating, and I also had the cervical mucuos, but it didn't matter. I really think the HSG should be a required test before trying.

Good luck to you all.

i have been tracking and charting even though i don't plan to try for almost a year. wedding isn't even until june. i want to know my cycles and my body so i will be well prepared when the time comes. whether it is right after wedding or a little down the road. this is my first month tracking and charting it and so far, everything seems to be going exactly the way it should be. so that is a relief. thanks for the reply and support. : )
