Hello everyone,

I tested positive for
MTHFR (Methyl-Hydrofolate Reductose)
Antimicrosomal Antibody (AMA) and
Antinuclear Antibody (ANA)

Do any of you guys habe or know about these? should these be treated before trying to conceive?

The only one i am aware of is the MTHFR. i believe it is a clotting disorder and is cured by one baby asprin a day. Did your doctor not explain these to you? Good luck

Thank you for the response. No, I have to wait until my next set of blood work results to discuss in detail about these.

Makes sense...the doctors are so patient sometimes i think they dont understand we are A PATIENT not have patience lol. I hate waiting. The others look to me like amune issues which might mean your body fights off potiential pregnancies (kinda like a flue) but dont stick to that i might be misinturpreting them completely the one i told you about is the only one i am sure of. How long till your next bw?

MTHFR (methyl TETRAhydofolate reductase) is an enzyme that is involved in the folic acid pathway. There are several types of mutations. Most common is the heterozygous mutation, which means that one of your 2 alleles is mutated (the other is normal). This can cause a reduced turnover of folic acid, or no effect at all. The homozygous mutations (both alleles are affected) is worse, which much lowered folic acid levels. Also, this mutation can cause elevated levels of homocysteine in your blood (they generally check for this and most likely yours came back normal, as did mine).
There is no 'cure'. There is prevention. Extra folic acid supplements help for pregnancy to prevent neural tube defects.
it is also possible that with these mutations you could be prone to blood clots, which there is thought that they might lead to m/c. So baby aspirin is generally prescribed during TTC/pregnancy to prevent this.

AMA is a thyroid issue and means you could have some type of autoimmune disorder (you will need further testing). There are medications to control thyroid issues and lots of girls on here have them.

ANA is also an autoimmune issue. Some Drs. don't bother to treat it, some use steroids (prednisone) to help with IF.

I am about to have all the autoimmune blood tests done. A few they are testing for is FVL and MTHFR. They said they treat these with increased folic acid and possible blood thinner medicine like heparin.
