commonly undiagoned cause of infertility
Hi, I hope this is a good place to post this, but I want to try and get the word out about Celiac Disease. It is very common and LARGLY undiagnosed in both the US and Canada. My daughter was just diagnosed, but often it is not caught this early in life. It has many different symptoms, many of which could be other things as well. It is often misdiagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome, among other things. Infertility (male and female)is one of the side effects, so I wanted to post some information here. Celiac disease is completely managable with a gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats) free diet. IF infertility is caused by Celiac Disease, being on this gluten free diet will reverse the effects. Many doctors (including my daughter's pediatrition) are not educated very well on this disease, so I would recommend doing some research online, and then asking for a simple blood test. Celiac.com is a great place to start getting information, or just put Celiac Disease in Google. Usually the emphasis is not on infertility, but it could be the only syptom someone has. I also have been e-mailing with a woman who suffered from infertility for 10 years before discovering she had Celiac Disease. She is now working on getting the word out to people about the link between the 2. PM me if you would like her e-mail address, I'm sure she could give you more information regarding infertility and Celiac Disease. She e-mailed me quite a few links, but unfortunatley I don't know how to post them here!
