Experience with Low Motility? Husband had vasectomy reversed...
Hi all,
We've been TTC for 1 1/2 years now. My husband had a vasectomy reversal as he was prev married. He also has 2 daughters from that marriage. I've never been pregnant. About 6 mo after the reversal, the motility was 25%. We had it tested last week again (after a failed IUI in Jan) and it was ZERO %. It hardly even makes sense to us. My dr told him to see a Urologist immed. He cannot get in until Mar 13th. I am scratching the walls with anxiety. Have any of you had any experience with male IF? I also was formerly married and never got PG in 6 years. I have a thryoid condition as well. I feel like the odds are so stacked against us. I am 37 years old..I am trying to remain hopeful. ~Lisa in WI |

Thank you for your post. I understand based on your signature that you too have had struggles.
Is your husband doing anything for the morphology to increase? Is it just a waiting game? I wonder about drugs for male IF.

Sounds so familiar!!
We are also going through the vas reversal nightmare!! What a pain. DH had his reversal last april, still not PG and have had 2 SA's first had 1 mil/ml and the second was NON SEEN!!! OUCH that hurt!! He is now taking lots of anti-inflammatory meds and vits, who know what the next step will be at this point. Our VR dr was terrible and does not do anything for after care!! What a waste of time. Hopefully we get some good news soon, seems so hard to think it may never happen!!! I am so glad to have found this site, its great to hear we are not alone and to be honest my DH I think gets tired of hearing me talk about this all the time!!!
For Valentines Day I got a !!! Not feeling the love for cupid anymore!!! Vic |

Wow, your story seems really parallel to ours. Thank you for your reply. And, by the way, how exactly do anti-inflammatories help?
My husband took clomid for a few months and his #s got worse. Go figure??? It just doesn't make sense to me that both our husbands had better ready for the SA the 1st time and worse readings the 2nd time. What is up with that? Also, has your hubby seen anyone other than the vas rev dr to get advice? We go in on March 13th and I can hardly wait. What CAN they even do if the #s are low? Anything? I feel so uninformed while I wait to see this doctor. I've read a lot over the internet but, quite honestly, there are so many complicated procedures that it is overwhelming! ~LISA

Hi Lisa...my husband's is very low, slow, and misshapen. I recently ordered him Fertility Blend to hopefully improve his quality and motility. FertilityBlend: Optimize Reproductive Health - How It Works Also, in the event our IVF#3 doesn't work...I ordered PreSeed to help the swimmers in case we have to try naturally for awhile. I have thyroid issues too, but mine are antibody related. If you're hyper or hypo and already on med management...you "should" be OK as far as that goes. Perhaps you should ask to have your antibodies checked. I have never been pregnant in my life until I took thyroid meds once I found out I had antibodies. Could be you just may need to increase or decrease your dose. Have you been tested for other antibodies (NK cells, antiphospolipid antibodies, antithyroid antibodies, antinuclear antibodies, etc.)? Ask your doctor about that too...but don't be surprised if they give you a hard time about it though (frustrating). I'm sorry you're going through this

Hi Lisa! From what I am told if there is any inflammation that can decrease or even make it impossible for the swimmers to get through, I was told that Ibuprofen can help with this and to do it only short term, my DH has been doing it for 2 months and we are getting ready to see if it helps with the 3rd SA. If your DH has any #'s at all that is a great sign, he is also taking Fertility Blend, not sure if it will help but that is the only thing our VR Dr told him to do and give it time??? I have talked to someone from an andrology lab and they even say that if the inflammation is not taken care of the area will eventually scar over, that is what we DO NOT WANT!! I even started taking Fertility Blend for women, not sure why but I figure it can't hurt we also use preseed around the "O" day. I have e-mailed Midwest Fertility Group and asked them what would be our best option, we are thinking about trying IUI but if his #'s are too low that won't work!! Vicky
