I live in NJ and your post caught my interest. What insurance do you have? I have Oxford through my husbands work. I know I have to call them and find out what exactly my IF coverage is, I just seem not to ask enough questions or the right questions. It's all so confusing and a bit scary too! Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thank you!

Hey Stormi,
Here's some info I found from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine: New Jersey <FONT face=Arial>The Family Building Act requires insurance policies that cover more than 50 people and provide pregnancy-related benefits to cover the cost of the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. The law defines infertility as the disease or condition that results in the inability to get pregnant after two years of unprotected sex (female partner under the age of 35) or one year of unprotected sex (female partner over the age of 35) or the inability to carry a pregnancy to term.<SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Times New Roman">

Hello, we live in NJ and I have researched the law. Was SO EXCITED to see that it was mandated to cover IVF, then as I was reading further into it found out that Federal employees are exempt from the law because we have the choice of multiple different insurances. Ok fine, but then when researching ALL of the insurances available to us, NONE of them offer coverage for ANY form of assisted reproduction. NOW WHAT DO I DO????? Can someone please help!!!!!

Hi- Ilive in NJ Too
What insurance do you? Call your company. under the nj law if you are over 35 and have been trying for 6 mos. or under 35 and have been having unprotected sex for 2 years, they have to cover you. Try Resolve of NJ website. Where do you live? What do you do?

HEy Munecaz, IF I am reading this correctly as long as 49 other federal employees in NJ have the same insurance as you, you should be covered for IVF. I am so thankful I am covered. Maybe you should just call your health insurance provider and your human relations dept. Its worth asking you may be pleasantly surprised! TMY |
