PREGNANT...AT 45 no less!!
I started seeing a RE at 44 who told me that at "my age" I had less than a 1% chance of conception. He would not do IVF and only offered IUI. My 52yo DH tested out on what he said were "stud levels" for the sperm count. The RE when on to say that men married younger women to reproduce and none of the 40' somethings from Hollywood were having their own children but using egg donors...depressing to say the least. I didn't mind about the egg donor since if I carry anything inside me for 9 months it is definitely mine! But....I wanted to at least get a real shot on my own. The RE offered to let me do 3 or 4 IUI's just so I could be satisfied that I couldn't reproduce with my own eggs...well 3 unsuccessful IUI's with clomid and trigger shots but excellent hormone levels later, I was discouraged....but, not defeated. I told the RE I wanted to lay off until after tax season (I'm a CPA) and try it on my own. I bought an OvaCue(?) Ovulation Monitor and used it last month...I'm now 5 weeks pregnant...AAGH!
My progesterone level checked at 31.22 and my HcG at 87 Monday, I didn't know it had to be "exactly" 48 hours later for my 2nd so that Beta test was only 123....I decided to switch back to my regular OB's care and she had me do another test today which was 210 and she said 66% increase was very encouraging and is going to do an ultrasound next Friday to see if she can see the little squirt....Praying for it to be a healthy baby now and not an ectopic pregnancy or anything else bad!1st - Spontaneous Miscarriage - 2 Months (25 yo) 2nd - Tubal Pregnancy (caught early - tube saved) - (30 yo) 3rd - Pregnant at 37 (DD now 7) - no fertility help 3 failed IUI's with clomid and trigger shots 4th - 5 weeks Pregnant at 45 using electronic ovulation monitor (and DH as he likes to point out!)
