Low HCG Level

Hi all. I just had my pregnancy test today and my HCG level came back at 20. My doctor wants me back on Wednesday for another test and hopefully the number will double

This is my second IVF attempt. With the first my HCG level came back extremely low at 2.8. So I guess I am a bit optimistic about my level being at 20, but am also realistic that the number is very low.

Any success stories out there with low HCG level = pregnancy? I could use some encouraging news!

Thank you so much for sharing this! It does make me feel better that I am not alone and low HCG levels have resulted in pregnancies! 2 more days of waiting!

So my 2nd HCG test came back and it doubled!!! It is 42 ( was 20 on Monday ). I am due back on Friday for another test. Praying it keeps doubling! While I know I am not out of the woods, I feel like I just defeated a huge hurdle!

That's wonderful! How are your numbers now?

I had a beta of 57 the first time, so a little higher than yours but still on the lower end and my little man is 13 months old. I also know of ladies who had pretty low numbers and ended up with healthy pregnancies. My nurse said a low number just means an early pregnancy and as long as it doubles then all is well. Congrats on being preggo!

Update on Low HCG Level

Thanks to all of you for posting your encouraging thoughts! Here is a breakdown of where I am thus far:

10/19: HCG 20
10/21: HCG 42
10/23: HCG 83

My doctor was not very optimistic after my first HCG test, but said if it keeps doubling, that is a good thing. Today I went in for my 5 week ultrasound and saw the sac in my uterus! Afterwards I met with my doctor and he took the wind right out of my sails....

He brought up Blighted Ovum to me and while he didn't come out and say it, I think this is what he thinks the result is going to be. He said while the numbers did continue to double, they are still very low. I am schedule to go back in next week for my week 6 ultrasound. We should be able to see something in the uterus and if there is nothing but a dark empty sac, then I will be diagnosed as Blighted Ovum.

To think 2 hours ago, right after my ultrasound I was on cloud 9 and now I am at home looking up all I can on blighted ovums and trying not to feel defeated and still remain positive. All I can do is pray and wait a week.

Thank you for sharing your stories with me. I will keep everyone posted!
