Success with PCOS

I am wondering how many woman around my age (28) with PCOS have had successful pregnancies. A little about me I do not have any blockages and my ovaries and female organs are all the right size. I just have problems producing female hormones needed for ovulation. I started taking Bravelle injections on Monday 8/14/06 and the doc is hoping that I have mature follicles by next Monday 8/22/2006. My hubby SA came back fine so we will be trying naturally after the doc gives me the HCG shot (next Monday hopefully). Any suggestions of others who have had similar issues? I am hoping we get pregnant fairly quickly because these fertility treatments are breaking our bank account just after the first month of going to the fertility specialist.

HELP!

I SO understand your frustration Bambie!!!! I want to be a MOM soooo badly! We too have been on clomid only 50 mg. This is my second month on it and on the 14th..when I had my progesterone blood work, Dr. called alter that week and told me I hadn't ovualted as of yet. My last cycle went great(so I thought) had a great number in the mid 20's. But all my life my period has been off...sometimes would skipped a month once or twice a year. Or have my cycle every 40 days. My OBGYN now thinks I may have a touch of PCOS though I am so confused b/c I have REALLY short (3-4 days) cycles{Max} and not very painful(cramps) at all. He said I f I hadn't started my cycle by Sept. 1st to call him and he'll give me a drug that will make me start GEEZ this is such an amtional roller coaster. You get your hopes up that you're pregant, then to find it was just PMS symptoms NOT pregnancy symptoms. Think my OBGYN is going to put me on a twice daily dosage of clomid next along w/ another drug (I forgot the name of) I thought I had heard a great percentage of women get pregnant taking clomid it is so very disheartening to me that I haven't conceived as of yet. Though my husband has not been checked out. guess my Dr thinks it is me at the moment since my Progest. came back this month 0.1.
I am so so happy and blessed to hve you and all of theseother wonderful ladies out there that REALLY understand what we're all going through. My husband and myself are really private people nobody knows we're even trying to have a baby...let alone having issues right now. Thank you for being there..all of you:-)

Prayerfully we'll be pregnant soon. Doctor may be changing my clomid dosage as well putting me on another drug along with since my progesterone was like 0.1 this month. All of this is SO emtionally draining. Everybody agree??PMS symptoms are almost the same as pregancy symptoms. Peace and Blessings to you all

I know how you guys feel!

Hi, I too am going through the same issues that you girls are having! It is so frustrating and I don't know anyone else personally who can even understand. My DH and I have been trying for over a year. Got off the pill in July 05, never got pd. Went to the dr went on prog pills to start. Tried clomid for three months- never ovulated. Did HSG- all good. My DH sperm count was tested- fine. Started follitism AQ. First month of injections it appear to cause my follicles to grow did an IUI- but it didn't work. Tried next month, had cyst remaining from previous cycle, so I decided to wait another month to try again. Started again this month... went to the dr today and it looks good. I have several follicles growing. So, we will see. I am so tried of trying.... I feel like I don't want to give up hope but it is really hard- you have to remain positive about it- or you will make yourself sick.

trying to stay positive

The frustration I feel is overwhelming at times. All my friends and my husbands friends who are married are pregnant.... I'm not kidding when I say ALL OF THEM!
I was diagnosed with PCOS in March. I did two rounds of clomid and did not ovulate, so my doctor put me on metformin permanently. I was then given 150mg of clomid and did not ovulate (follicle turned into cyst). My doctor wants me to try two more rounds of 150 mg of clomid before referring me to an RE. I've decided to take a month off of clomid, because I don't have the emotional strength to deal with another disappointment.

I am now on day 35 and haven't started my cycle in June I started on day forty. GEEZ....This is so frustrating. Once I finally start doctor has me on 100 mg of clomid. Have been on 50 for the last 2 months..one month ovulated this month(August) never did ovulate. Thank you all for listening we all need eachother at this difficult time in our lives

i wanted to tell my pcos success story, i've been trying to get here for a few weeks but my newborn wants to be held all the time so please just put up with my lack of capitalization, shes in the sling and i need a hand for her darling little head. i was diagnosed with pcos at 28, i am 36 now. my husband and i started ttc about 4 years ago, i was on clomid for six months with a regular gyn then found an excellent reproductive endocronologist and started the whole gammit of injectibles, about six months into this with no success we tried an iui, which worked but i miscarried at 7 weeks. we moved to another state and it took about a year and a half to get a really good re in this area. i was put on metformin,1000mg a day, and tried a couple of the same drugs that had worked before with iui each cycle....no success... i found out about an excellent book and diet, the insulin resistance diet, three months later i was pregnant....i was on gonalf and was very carefully monitored with blood tests and ultrasounds throughout my entire cycle and had my iui on day 19 after a trigger shot of ovidril the day before. i was on progesterone suppositories for the first twelve weeks of my pregnancy. it was an excellent pregnancy, the side efeects of the drugs were worse, and after an amazing birth experience we are truly blessed with our little girl. i truly believe that the diet played a critical role in my success and the health of my baby. sugar plays a very big role in pcos and bakanced blood sugar made a huge difference in my life. i am also an extremely positive person and truly never lost my head in all of the time we were ttc in fact i got eight neices and nephews during my time trying and i love them all to pieces. there is hope for all of us i truly believe that every person here will find their path to parenthood and i wish you girls all the luck in the world... you will get the chance to be excited that you never get to sleep again!!!!!!!

PCOS and 27

Hello! Ive been looking for someone in my age group with the same problem as I! I'm 27 and I have a sister who's 30 with PCOS. She tried IVF 3 times over 3 years but they never figured out why she couldn't concieve. She would ovulate and produce mature eggs EVERY month. I on the other hand have the same exact problem as you! We are actually in the same process. I was told I have PCOS but only a mild form....whatever that means it still really really sucks.
I was pregnant once, right after I got married DH is 32. But it was ectopic but my tube was let intact. My HSG showed everthing was open and working. I do have a tipped uterus which I'm told isn't a big deal. I can't wait to talk more! I've been out there searching for the same info. as you. I'll be sure to post whatever I can find out! Do you feel like because you're so young people almost laugh of your fear and concern about your fertility issues? Like Oh your still young you have plenty of time? When really your thinking " while if I want 3 children I'm actually behind in the game? Plus Starting at 24 and not having sucess is really rough. Laura

Hi Girls,
Nice to meet all of you..
I am in the same boat as all of you and I am so excited to find this PCOS thread!!

I am 28 and my DH is 28 too..
We just started trying in November 2006...when I wouldnt get my period..and the ovulations sticks kept saying I am not ovulating..

Thats when I started seeing an RE...he talked about me being Insulin resistant and put me in Metformin..but that didnt help a lot..
So he suggested some surgery to remove cysts..
After I got that done...in December..I was put on BCP for January to bring down my hormone levels..
February I got off BCP and actually got my periods on my own..Yoohoo!!
I was so happy..This is March and its my first IUI cycle..I scheduled for a pregnancy test on Thursday of the coming week..
Thats my story so far..
I am so happy to meet all of you!!

We conceived on our 4th month of clomid and second month on glucophage.Probably helped too that I had been sick and had been on some antibiotics also and a steriod. We're so excited to fianlly meet our baby this summer. I feel all of your pain as I've BEEN THERE. But it is possible to conceive with PCOS. Even though my case is VERY mild. It can be done;-) Good luck to you all:-) DON'T GIVE UP!!! Stay positive.

Hello. I do not have PCOS but my best friend is in the same boat with you. She has PCOS and was taking Glucophage, Metformin, and then was taking Clomid 200mg. She was trying for about a year and had 1 miscarriage. BUT when she stopped taking the Clomid for 1 month that is the month she conceived her little miracle and has a handsome 4 yr old boy. She is now trying for her 2nd and using Clomid again and Preseed. She's 32 now. Hang in there, there are success stories. Keep the faith and never give up!!
