what does beta number mean?
I just got a
!!! I went in today for my first blood test. When they called with the results, I asked what my numbers were and was told that the pregnancy hormone was 76. I asked if that was good/normal and she told me that anything over 5 indicated a positive, but there was no normal range. Is that correct? Basically she said that they want to make sure that the numbers rise so I have another blood test in a few days. Any idea if the number is good or not? Thanks!

Your number is very good! Congratulations! In general HPTs are positive with a beta around 30. Your doctor will want your beta to double about every two days!
Congratulations again. I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Beta HCG is the the pregnancy hormone produced by the cells of the implanting embryo .Beta hCG levels should double approximately every 2 days for the first four weeks of pregnancy and by 6 to 7 weeks gestation beta hCG levels may take as long as 3 1/2 days to double . The levels will reach their peak in the 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy (the third month) and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy. These beta numbers indicate the amount of HCG in the mothers system.Hope this info answers your query.

Hey girl!!!
Everybody has done great answering your beta question already, but I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Getting that beta was exciting, I know! My first was 187 and I was happy, sounded secure. Was pretty shocked a few days later to hear 3,000....but, about fell out of bed a few days later when my nurse called to tell me of the 43,768!! Gulp! What in the world does THIS mean? It's so exciting, isn't it? I'm SO happy and thrilled for you, enjoy every single second!!!!! ![]()
