The answer cannot be a straight yes or a no. He probably can. There are lots of men with low sperm counts who do father a child. On the other hand, there are a lot of couples with seemingly normal numbers who have trouble. It is different each time, each cycle and for each person.

It depend how low the count is and the morphology of the sperm.

My DH had a count below 500,000, many with poor morphology and motility. With this count, it is next to impossible to conceive naturally.

There are statistics that tell you chances of conceiving naturally given the sperm count. There are lots of couples who conceive naturally who have a low sperm (though not as low as ours). If the couple is young, time is on their side for conceiving.

Yes it's very possible, it depends on the count and if there are any other factors that might hinder a conception. We had a low count and morphology issues and were able to conceive on our own after four years. So yes, anything is possible.

What is his sperm count? Did he have any other issues such as motility, morphology, etc? My husband's last sperm count in July was 24 million up from 12 million when we started trying in 2002. However, his morphology was at 1/100 being normal meaning we originally were given a less then 1% chance of conception. In July that also raised to 16/200 which is 8%. I'm pregnant so it really does go to show that anything is possible.

I wish you the best of luck that maybe it happened. Also need to note that just because you had all those follicles doesn't mean they were all mature enough to release at ovulation (which is a good thing). Keep us posted.

Depending on how low the count is, you can still conceive naturally if the sperm is able to swim fast enough. Also, sperm counts can change as well. When my husband first tested, he was "slightly low" @ 31million; when he tested again a few months later for our 1st IUI, he was over 100million!!! My RE said immune system can play a big role so I started giving DH a multiviatmin every day!

Has your DH had more than 1 SA? The reason I ask is b/c we thought my DH had a low sperm ct for 2 years because we were going to a RE that insisted there was no need to retest him. We switch to a new RE a couple of months ago and he is just fine. His last couple of SA were 196million, and 86.5million after wash...thats a far cry from a low count. My are with you.
