Shared Risk IVF Refund Program
My friend emailed this link to me today for the Shared Risk Program
IVF Video - Paying for IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) Have any of you used this, does it work? How does it work? DH and I are going to make an attempt at IVF but we can only afford to pay for one try. This sounds like a too good to be true thing, but I'm not sure.

I don’t know much about the shared risk here in the states but the Fertility clinic I work at has a clinic in Bahamas and they have a similar program where you pay 21K & it gives you 3 fresh cycles. I have a relative who did one cycle at 16k. I know it’s far away but a few of our NJ patients found that even with air & hotel it’s cheaper and their chances are better also using a fresh cycle.

I went ahead and called and got the info from them. Looks like they charge 24K plus testing and meds for 3 fresh cycles plus 3 frozen with a refund of 70% if it doesnt work. My clinic is telling me 15K (for procedure and meds) with one more no charge cycle if the first one doesnt work.
The Shared Risk sounded like a good deal but what if I get PG on the first cycle then I'm out 24K instead of only 15K. I dont know - I have to talk to DH about it. The Shared Risk program would also mean I would have to change REs and travel some for the procedures. |

We're doing the shared risk program at our clinic, Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago. We pay $16,000 plus pre-tests, meds, and monitoring for up to three fresh cycles and as many frozen cycles as we have embryos to transfer. If it doesn't work we'll get $12,500.
Yes, you get hosed on the price if it works right away, but for us it didn't. When we crunched the numbers we found that as soon as we had to move on to the second fresh cycle we'd be coming out ahead and for us that was worth it. There are several people on these boards using the Integramed program. Maybe search for "Integramed" for those threads. You could also look into clinical trials to get some of the cost covered.
