Normal HSG

Hi Everyone! I'm new here. To tell you a little about myself. My husband and I have been together 6 years and been married 1yr and 6 months. We've never used birth control and never been pregnant. I had an HSG done on Oct. 23rd which was normal, my DH has low sperm count. Does this mean nothing is wrong with me or should I get some other testing done. My doc hasn't mentioned about doing other testing. Or is it just the low aperm count that is causing our infertility? Help!

The fact that your HCG was normal is a good sign. It's really hard because a lot of people fall into the "unexplained" category, which I think can be more frustrating. We had been TTC for 16 months until I got my BFP (ended up ectopic). My HSG was normal, DH counts normal, all tests normal (progesterone, FSH, etc). I have very normal cycles and O every month, but still have troubles. I even was cleared of any endo when they did the surgery to remove my pregnancy. If you've been TTC for more than 1 year, I would talk to your doc about more tests. If it's been less than that, I would wait it out.

I'm sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy. We have been trying I say for about 6 months now using the OPK. The only testing my doc did was the HSG and the progesterone blood test but didn't do the FSH or LH test. I'm confused now, don't you think he should have done those other 2 hormone tests too?

it would make sense to have the other tests done, as well as find out if you actually ovulate.

however with your HSG just being done, you have a great window of opportunity with the cycle right after the HSG...sometimes one's tube might have been blocked and the HSG procedure will clear them out.

Good luck.

I wouldn't be too concerned, since you've only been TTC for 6 months. We saw the RE for the first time just under 1 year TTC. The post was right, you should have increased fertility 3 months following the HSG. I would keep trying, and if you still don't have your BFP after that, go back to the doc for more testing.
