ET done! 1 handsome embryo. for !!!! Beta scheduled for 6/5.

harpjs - I had a lot of pressure in my abdomen. It was hard to stand up/sit down/bend, and when I walked I felt like I was waddling. Had shooting pains in my ovaries and pelvis. I ended up with stabbing pains when I started the flow of urine, but I didn't have a problem once the flow started. I had an US yesterday to see how much fluid there was (a moderate amount), but the US today shows it's gone down, and I'm definitely moving better today.

The only thing that hurt about the whole process was ending up with fluid in my abdomen from OHSS, but that doesn't happen to everyone, and some cases are worse than others.

I did feel some cramping when they passed the catheter through my cervix to implant the embryo, but I had a colposcopy and biopsy of cervix when I was 17, and it's been sensitive ever since. I cramp up during pap smears, so I don't know if it's like that for everyone, or if I'm just more sensitive to that type of discomfort.

Thanks! Sending some right back atcha!

There's no need to be nervous. You're a trooper and it's going to go well for you. Just make sure you get plenty of rest afterward, and if you start to feel worse instead of better within the first few days, or if you're feeling any pressure in your abdomen after a couple days, call your doc and see what he/she would advise.

I know you're gonna get some beautiful lil embryos!

I wish I found this forum sooner! I guess better late then never... I just wanted to share that I am also going through an IVF cycle right now. I just had my retrieval yesterday and I am scheduled for my implant on Sunday 5/31. I still feel a little sore today, but I'm hanging in there. I'd love to talk with anyone else going through IVF so we can encourage each other!

Thanks AB! I really wish I had joined a forum the first time I was going through IUI. I didn't really talk to anyone and I think that just made it harder on me!

Anyway, I'm still kind of sore today and am wondering what the implant on Sunday will be like. I figured it would be nothing, but then today I was told to arrive a half early for "prepping" before the procedure. What can prepping entail?

By the way, yesterday they told me they retrieved 13 eggs - I was so excited! Today they told me 5 fertilized. Is it just me, or does that seem kind of low?

Hi Ricochet -

From what I understand, the egg retrieval is supposed to be the toughest part. The shots are not fun by a long shot, but for me, they stopped hurting right away. I just had a bunch of black & blues all over my stomach!

I was unconscious during my egg retrieval yesterday, but once I woke up, I was sore. Today I feel kind of crampy and "tight". Like I can't straighten up and it really hurts if I try to lift things. I've been told its all normal, but I am sure other people can tell us their experiences.

I will let you know what the implant is like (its on Sunday morning). It doesn't sound like it will be bad at all - they are doing it in the RE's office as opposed to the retrieval that was done in a surgi-center. If I forget to tell you, please feel free to PM me.

I know what you mean about the initial excitement about the eggs they retrieved. They got 13 eggs from me, too, only 6 were mature and only 4 fertilized, so I definitely know how you're feeling right now. I talked to the doctor about it today and he said it's pretty average, i guess? I think it was hard for me because they were kind of hyping me up, saying that because I was so young, I was going to get so many. So I figured I'd end up with a bunch of embryos, too. I was thinking I'd have at least 6-8, but I guess I was wrong

As for the prepping, I probably spent 30 mins in the room before the actual transfer took place. They gave me a valium & tylenol, did some US, BW to detect progesterone levels, then they did a practice run with an empty catheter to make sure they could get through the cervix OK and were able to get the catheter where they needed to for an ideal transfer. Then was the transfer, and they had me lay there for 15-20 min after before I was free to get up and go home.

Airman'sBaby- Thanks for sharing your experience. It is nice to know what to expect!
I did a low stim cycle and my doctor has been very pleased with the outcome so far. I hope things go well with the ER and fertilization part also.

harpjs - Anytime! We're all in this together, and the fact that we can make it even a tiny bit easier for someone else is a very positive thing. Your ER will be fine, you're gonna get some perfect lil embryos!

Isn't getting the go-ahead to trigger a great feeling? Before you trigger, you're just injecting yourself with different meds, and you do it so much, you're kind of programmed to do it. Like, "Oh. It's 7:30. Time for my shot." When I triggered, it hit me all of a sudden, like, whoa! this is real! I'm gonna see some kind of result soon!

Hi Girls,
I hope everyone is well. I have a question...TMI. I am a bit behind the rest of you tomorrow is my mock transfer and I am on day 6 of Lupron shots. Last week I had a HSG done and ever since then I have had nasty brownish spotting...sorry TMI. I am wondering if anyone else had this and will it mess up my mock transfer?? Thank you sooo much! I am cheering for you girls
Thanks T
