Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had to take an HCG shot after your tranfer. My doctor is having me take it 3 times in small doses after my transfer. They are three days apart. For the trigger I took 10,000 units and now for these booster shots I am taking 1,500 units each time. My last one will be tomorrow and then I go in 6 days later for my pregnancy test. Will the HCG still be in my system? Just wondering because I did not have to do this last time.

This sounds totally counterintuitive. Are you sure it's after your transfer? Why?

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the usual protocol with my doctor was to trigger on whatever day (this was not a transfer or IUI) and follow up 1 week later with another trigger shot. The purpose of the second shot was not to ovulate anything, but to cause your body to keep the hormone levels high to support a pregnancy, if there was one starting. Maybe this is what the goal is here? I would think that the HSG would still be in your system one week later, but maybe not at these low levels? I would ask some questions. You'll feel better with real answers from your doctor.

I had the same thing in my protocol. I took small doses after Transfer. I may have even taken one right after the ER.

I think the extra HCG is to assist with implantation and to give your uterus a boost. I got a BFP with my cycle, can't say whether or not it contributed to it, but I was up for whatever my doc. prescribed. This was a standard protocol in my RE office. His success rates are pretty good.

Not sure if it would give you a false positive on your HPT. I never took a HPT, I waited for the Beta.
