Had my HSG today!

Hey everyone sorry I haven't ventes in a while my last was very rough for me I started to lose hope. Well came and I went for my HSG today I must say it was quite uncomfortable alot of cramping but they told me that was normal. But on the bright side the radiologist that was there was absolutely wonderful she was rubbing my arm and helping me calm down during the procedure she made me feel very comfortable that really helped. I find out the results on Monday. I do have a question though. has anyone ever had the results come back that the
tube(s) were clogged or blocked can they fix this what can or do they do for it?

They can sometimes to laproscopic surgery to fix this. You won't be a candidate for IUI though until it's fixed or you'll have to do IVF to get pregnant. As long as you have 1 tube that is clear then you can still get preggos.

I had my first HSG shot last night!

I had my HSG shot last night! We are from Utah but live out of the country currently. So here if you have a license to give anastisea then we give it to ourselves. It freaken hurt!! How do the doctors give it to you? I am curious to make sure I am doing it right. The needle they gave me is as long as my ring finger. I hope all goes well for you on Monday!

Can't wait to hear.

The way they did it for me was, I had to go to a radiology office. They took a speculum like used in a pap then took a tube and put it into my uterus and filled it up with dye and then took x-rays to check if my tubes are clear.

When I had My HSG they told me that my right side was blocked. They tried several times and only got a thin stream to go through. I needed to have a Lap anyways so they were able to unblock it then. They sort of roto rooter the tube. I do think it depends alot on why its blocked, mine was just debris and was easy to unblock.

Praying: I think you might be thinking about the HCG shot. The HSG is an exam where they shoot dye through your fallopian tubes to look for a blockage. the HCG is your triiger for ovulation. Both hurt I will agree on that!!! I give myself my HCG's because my husband is squeamish and it is hard!!!

Where do you live in Utah? We lived in Holladay for 10 years. We Just moved back to CAlifornia and I miss Utah SO Much!!!!!

I think what you are referring to is your "HCG" shot to trigger ovulation. The "HSG" that the other ladies are referring to is short for hysterosalpingogram. It is a procedure where they insert dye into your cervix using a cathetar to make sure it travels through your fallopian tubes and into your uterus to check for blockages in your tubes. It is done using an exray machine.

What you are talking about is your HCG trigger and I would imagine that it did hurt pretty bad for you because it sounds like you used the wrong needle. I am from Utah too and we do all of our own injections. The long needle that you are speaking of is suppose to be used for mixing and drawing up the solution but they should have given you a second much much smaller needle too. When you are done drawing up the solution the long needle unscrews from the top of the syringe and the small needle screws on in its place. It is injected into your tummy or leg and the needle is so small you barely even feel it going in.

I feel so bad that you don't have accesss to a doctor with more experience with infertility. Its a hard enough experience to go through even under the best of circumstances. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck! The cycle was the lucky charm for us after years of treatment and multiple IUI's!
