Angry NEWBY anyone wanna help read my issues...

Hi we go to a fertility specialist Sept 2 but I am getting anxious. Anyway I have 2 kids from previous marriage.9 and 12 sons... MY hubby who is 32 has non. I am 36. Anyway he had a hernia surgery when he was 9 years old. Do you think this has anything to do with him not being able to have kids. Should we buy a at home male fertility kit before we go...Would this answer any questions I ovulate according to OC Fertility test kits on regular basis each month... What else can we do... We did notice my hubby tends to have jelly like ejaclations is this normal? any help would be appreciated...

An OTC fertility tests only test if the man is fertile or infertile so that may give you some direction. If you're ovulating then the problem may lie with your hubby. They will most likely send him for an S.A. and then try and decide what to do from there. It may be that you would have to do IUI or even IVF - depending on the sperm test.

Good Luck. Don't be nervous. The R.E's are very helpful and just make sure you write your questions down so you can ask them and don't forget.

I wouldn't bother with an OTC test. I would head to the specialist and let them do the sperm analysis. It will be much more scientific, much more reliable, and you'll get results you can actually use. Good luck.

I agree, wait for the sperm analysis at the RE. They will get the results and help you determine your next step.

I third that - my understanding is the OTC kits don't give you the specific types of information that the actual SAs do - like how the sperm look and if they're moving and how many of them are there, etc. That'll really help. The hernia would depend on how long it was there and whether that was long enough to affect sperm function. If he had a hernia from birth that wasn't fixed until age 9, I would think that that could affect it. Usually they're found and corrected pretty quickly though if they happen later in childhood like his. Sometimes it's just a couple thing too. All my testing was fine. Al DHs testing was fine (and he has a child from his first marriage). But we had no luck with 16 months TTC on our own and 3 months of IUIs. Sometimes there really isn't a reason, as sucky as that is. Good luck! Definitely bring your questions and paper to write stuff down on!

You can buy a prenatal vitamin at Walmart they sell them but my RE said anything with 400mg of folic acid works and Womens once a day has that. As for quiting smoking i cut down to 5 a day then switched to natural american spirit which i then cut down to 2 a day. When i start my stims i will eliminate those 2 and just go for the nicotine gum. I start lupron this saturday and should start the stims on Monday Aug 24th. I think i can eliminate those two smokes a day by then! Good luck!

I just wanted to drop some supportive words The hernia surgery could have left some scar tissue that is blocking something. Scar tissue, depending on the severity of it, should be able to be cleared up simple enough. I wish you and your husband luck!
