Please help me! I am so devastated

I am 39 years old, married for almost 8 years and recently decided to have a baby. I don't know why I waited this long, but I was always a "little" unsure but now, I know that I want a child. I never wanted to have a child until I was 100% sure I was ready.
So, hubby and I went to get workups done and low and behold, hubby's sperm isn't good. Poor volume, low count, poor motility, and 0% morphology!!
We went to see a fertility doc today who told us we could do ivf/icis. I am just not sure about all of this. Does anyone have success with this procedure, especially with 0% morphology.
Now, here is the kicker. He has two kids from a previous marriage!! So, I'm just shocked this is happening. His kids are 15 and 17.
I am so upset. I don't know what to do. He also has an appt with an urologist in September. I am just like, what happened? Why is his count like that? It is just not one thing that is bad, it's like everything. Someone please give me advice.
Also, my husband is unwilling to adopt or to use donor sperm. So, if the ivf doesn't work, I guess I won't ever be a mother.

I am so sorry you have to go through this. I don't have any advice to offer in this area, but I wanted you to know that there are people out there pulling for you to be a mother! Maybe the SA was a fluke or maybe thre is something they can do to help it. Good luck!!

First off Im sorry you are dealing with IF..it sucks.
Does your husband smoke or drink? Does he eat a healthy diet? these are all things that can damage sperm especially the smoking. Try putting him on a vitamin regimen. you can try Fertilaid (its vitamins and supplements all in one)..take it for 3mths and then do another semen analysis. My hubby has a very low count and all that and Fertilaid did help him.

Did your work up find anything wrong with you? elevated FSH levels?

Probably the best success rate you can get is 50% with IVF and ICSI and thats if you dont have any issues only your hubby.

He eats pretty healthy, doesn't smoke or drink. So far, I guess I am ok. The only thing that is a concern was I had a fasting glucose of 117 3 months ago and I only have long cycles, 36 day cycles. So, the doc today, wants to start me on Metformin. As far as everything else, I guess I am ok. Of course, who knows, I am just waiting for the next shoe to drop.

So sorry to hear about your plight. You hubby may not have had any sperm issues 15 years ago, but so many things change as we get older, just like with women. I do know that people here have had improved sperm analyses over time, and I have read about successes with that type of treatment. I would have a good doctor and urologist, and listen well and ask questions. I wish you well.

My hubby also had very low sperm count. I can't remember what his exact numbers were but they were not good My RE also suggested IVF with ICSI. We did it and on our first try we got pg with b/g twins So as scary as it may seem it is totally worth it! No one can ever guarantee a pregnancy with IVF but at least you will know that you tried. Good luck in everything!!!!
