Anyone use Menopur Injectable?

Hey ladies- Just wondering if anyone has experience with Menopur injectable, and if so....what was your experience with it?
I am going to be doing my 3rd IUI next month, and my RE wants to try Menopur. I haven't heard anything about it prior to this....so very curious. It looks like the success rates are slightly higher with the injectables and IUI then with clomid and IUI, so that makes me a little more positive.
Thanks!!!

I used Menopur as part of my stims. I dont get my BETA until Tuesday but today I POAS and got a . So obviously I think it works great. The only thing I feel I should warn you about is it does sting a bit. Seems to be a common complaint on here. So just be ready for it to sting, thats normal. Good Luck!

I got my BFP on my first try with IUI + Letrozole + Menopaur. My twins are 1 week old!

It worked really well for me...I think I had 4 mature follies. No side effects.

Best of luck to you!

Menopur does sting....so inject slowly and it helps a bit. I did 300 on follistim and 150 in menopur injections. The combo didn't work for me, but it is stronger and should produce more follicles. I did wake up with a pounding fast heart beat one night, like I was running for a long time. Took several minutes to come down. Drank some cold water and took deep breaths. After that, I had some difficulty breathing on other days. I'm still having wierd heart beats and some difficulty breathing on occassion. Hoping that it goes away. If not, we'll get it looked at after my cycle is complete.
I wish you luck and hope this is the month for you!!!! Let me know, if you're able, if you have any similar side effects.
Happy Monday! ( :

Eek! That doesn't sound like very much fun. I'll definitely let you know if I have the same side-effects, or anything similar.
I've been hearing that the shot stings pretty bad, so I'm definitely not excited about that. I'm trying to decide if I want to attempt to give it to myself, or ask someone else to do it. I'm nervous for my first time!

I understand the reluctance to give yourself injections. I ended up ok with it. My husband did give me the HCG in my hip a few times (not pleasant; I was more nervous), but once I started follistim and other meds, I changed to giving them to myself in my belly. I just wanted to know when it was coming and to hurry up and get it over with. Wouldn't want to have to do that always...but was fine. The needles weren't big, especially with follistim.
If you're not in for it, have someone help you. I'll be thinking about you and hoping you're doing well!

LOL! I keep hearing that it's no big deal to give yourself a shot....I guess that's where we're all at, huh ladies? Can you imagine 10 years ago thinking about giving yourself a shot?! No way! Now, it feels like second nature to us. Hmph....

I'm sure I'll be fine.....thanks Mazzy!

Good Luck to you and hopefully you will get a soon. I will be doing my first attempt at IUI with this cycle. I should be starting the menopur injections sometimes next week. I am freaking out, I am also like you, I dom't know if I will be able to do it myself or have someone else inject me.

oh yes I used menopur for both of my ivf-cycles. I was mixing 4 viles of meopur to 1cc of solution. I got so used to giving myself injections needles don't bother me anymore. You will do just fine after the first couple injections you'll be a pro. good luck

MENOPUR ROCKS!!! I conceived my DD on my first round of it. We only had one good follie when we did the trigger shot, but that's all it took. It has been a little while since I did it, but I don't remember it stinging, so maybe it doesn't hurt everyone the same. Best of luck!!

Mazzy, greatly appreciate the tip on Menopur - it is included in my stims protocol so will be ready when I get there. Keep on sharing the experiences.

menapur injections - use EMLA cream to prevent sting!!

I'm currently going through my 2nd cycle. I am needle phobic and pain sensitive. During my previous cycle, the first time my husband injected me with menapur I was crying out in pain, it stung so bad. Not necessarily the needle but the solution itself going in. I scoured many IVF forums and heard about EMLA cream. Its a topical anesthetic (lidocane). You need a prescription from your doc, but its a routine drug. It has literally saved my life from any anxiety about pain or discomfort. You put it on the spot you will inject, cover it for about an hour with a small piece of saran wrap and I promise you will feel almost nothing. I use it for all my injectables and my blood draws. Good Luck!!
