Hi everyone!!!! My name is Lauren and I'm currently in my 2ww of my 1st IVF with ICSI cycle. This has sure been a rollercoaster. I started injections on Sept 11, 09 and was on them for a very long 2 weeks. I was responding very slowly and was producing only 4-5 measurable follicles do to have only one ovary. They wanted to give these follies as much time as they could to get them to a good size for a successful retrieval. I triggered last Wed night and had my ER last Friday. For 2 weeks I was told that I only had 4-5 follies, but when they retrieved my eggs, they retrieved 9!!!!! I was so shocked! We waited for our fertilization report on Sat and was hoping for good news. Out of the 9 eggs, 3 were post mature, 1 was immature, and 5 mature. They fertilized the 5 with ICSI and out of the 5, 2 fertilized. This was hard to hear. I really thought we would get more and have some to freeze. Due to the small amount of embryos we had to work with, my DR said that they wanted to do a 2 day transfer which meant the next day, Sunday. WOW!!!!
I couldn't believe this was all happening so quickly. I went in for my transfer at 9:30 am and the Dr came in to talk to us before and said that only 1 of our 2 embryo made it so we only had 1 to transfer. Everything would be riding on this one little embie!!!! The transfer went well. Bed rest all day and felt pretty good except for some mild cramping later during the evening. It continued through out the night so I stayed home from work to take it easy and give our baby the best chance possible of sticking. I had cramps throughout the whole day and then around 10 pm became very sick with a fever of 102. I had the chills, body aches, I felt like I was dying. I really thought my body was rejecting this embryo. I called my Dr at like 2am and she didn't seem too too worried and to take tylenol and to check my fever every few hours. If I didn't go down, to call right away!!! I'm feeling better, temp is down to like 98.5 thankfully. This was a huge scare of my hubby and I!!!! I'm still having cramps and if they are still there in the am, my Dr would like me to come in to see her to get checked out. My first beta is 10/09 and I just pray that all of this is a good sign that our little one is burrowing itself nicely into my uterus for the next 9 months!!! Anyone else experienced anything like this and had a BFP???? |

Hi Mrscip- I also don't have experience with IVF (yet!) But, I didn't want you to feel like no one on this forum has. You might want to join the gals over at the IVF thread. Just click on "Infertility Treatments" (instead of "General Infertility Support") then scroll towards the bottom. There is a thread there for IVFers....there's a lot!!
Good luck!!

Hey Lauren,
My name is Rachel and I also had IVF w/ ICSI and only had one embryo transferred and I am also in my 2ww..my blood test is on 10-5. This is actually my 2nd cycle, my first cycle was cancelled because I only had one follicle, the 2nd time around I had 5 follices and we were so happy but on day of retrival only 1 follicle contained an egg the other 4 were cycsts. I am soo nervous and I pray everyday we get a healthy baby. I can't believe you ran a fever that high after your transfer. I hope everything works out for you, I'm crossing my fingers. |

This is strange, but our schedules have been almost identical, except ET. I started my gonal on 9/11 and had my trigger on a week ago yesterday and my ER friday and ET Monday. I have been very crampy this entire time. I think I have a bit of OHSS as they retrieved 27 eggs from my extremely swollen ovaries. Yesterday evening I began feeling a little fluish. Minor body aches and a slight temp. Part of me thinks I have myself so afraid something is going to go wrong that I am just feeling this falsly. However, my back is killing me. Those PIO shots are not fun! My bloodtest day is also 10/9. Best of luck!1
