Question on doc changing cycle days

Hello everyone. This is my first post here, and I'm so confused. I'll give a little background before going into my main question.

My DH and I have twins who are 7 and we've been ttc for a little over 4 years now. We finally decided this past summer that we'd give Clomid a try again. We were afraid to do so before that because of the risk of twins.

We expected my cycle to start on 9/8, so doc said to call that day one, no matter what. And take all meds (clomid, estrogen and progesterone) on the required days, calling 9/8 day one. So we did, although 9/11 was actually day one. We had two follicle check ultrasounds on what he called day 10 and day 14. Both times there were a couple follicles less than 10 mm. They assumed that I didn't ovulate.

So, this month we're bumping up to 100 mg of Clomid. He says that if you don't start bleeding by day 33, to call day 29 day one of the next cycle and ignore all bleeding. So I called this past Friday, confirmed that's the way I should do it. (Many negative tests) So, I started my clomid again on Friday they're calling that day 4, and I actually started my cycle today, and I'm calling this day 7. I have a follicle check on Wednesday, but it'll actually only be day 3. Do any other docs do this? I've takend the clomid, and my fertility monitor bumped to HIGH reading today. Now I've started my cycle. Will I ovulate while I'm still bleeding because of the meds? And next month it'll be an even bigger gap between what I call day one and what really is, if this happens again.

I'm so confused. I don't know how we can just call it day one if it's not.

I plan on asking at the u/s Wed, but I haven't seen the doc in a month and a half, I only see the u/s tech and speak to the nurse.

Thanks for any help you can give me here.

I'm not a doctor but that goes against everything I've ever been told. I have always been told that day one is the first day of full flow. Last month my CD 1 was Sept. 9 so I took provera accordingly so I would have a nice 28 day cycle an made an appt. for Oct. 7. That day came and went with no AF so I rescheduled for October 9. Again, no AF. At this point I'm just waiting for AF (I think today might be the day!). Regardless, whatever day it happens will be day 1... even if it's today or next week.

Again, I'm no doctor. Is this the same doctor that helped you get pregnant with the twins? If you have a long history with him and you haven't had any problems in the past, I'd say givr him a chance. It can't hurt to question it at your next appt. though. Good luck! Let us know what he says or what you decide to do!

It's so frustrating when things don't make sense and there doesn't seem to be a good explanation for it. From my experience, the first day of real flow was day #1, no matter what. When I was on injectibles, I was allowed to start anywhere from day 3 to 5, depending on when I could get in there for the ultrasound and bloodwork. Even if I started on day 5, we still called it day 5. It just meant that we'd probably trigger a little later than if we started on day 3. No big deal. The meds and timing and triggering were all based on how my body responded that cycle anyway, so it didn't matter what day it was labeled. I agree with the previous post, though. If you have a good history with this doc, stay there. If not, ask a lot of questions, try to get answers or at least feel better about the plan. Good luck!
