ok, so I am 28yrs old just had my lap for endo on October 1 and my doctor has recommended lupron, and am going to be getting the med in a week to 2weeks,but after reading this I am soooooooooo scared to even get near this med. Its like you either take this with the hope of saving fertility and no pain..or not and have endo ravage your body and you will live with unbearable pain!!! I have no idea what to do,and i am so scared after reading this. Is there anyone that did not have weight gain, headaches etc...anyone that can testify that lupron actually worked for them? did any one have a baby after doing this. my bigs thing is being able to have a baby. Cause right now its my health on the line, my ability to have children, my ability to have a normal life free of endo pain or these crazy, horrible side effects...please help me!!!

I am in the middle of my first IVF cycle. I have been taking lupron for about a month now. I have had about 4 headaches but I was also getting off the last few caffienated drinks a month so that probably did not help. I have only gained 1.5 pounds and I have added 2 other drugs so I believe those are to blame. EVeryone is different if you take it and have a bad reaction then talk to your doctor. If he doesn't listen then make him or find someone that understands your concerns.

thank-you and do you have kids or would you like to have kids thats my bigs thing with going on lupron

I am trying to have kids right now.... I have heard lots of pros and cons to all of the meds. It comes down to your trust in your doctor. If you don't feel it's right figure out another route. Is there an alternative to Lupron for you? If so investigate but if not at least start the Lupron and figure out from there.

Please keep in mind that the dosing and administration of Lupron for IVF & Lupron Depot for endo are different. The monthly Lupron-Depot shot for endo is 3.75mg of leuprolide acetate at once, intramuscularly. For IVF, a smaller subcutaneous daily dose of Lupron is used (usually 10 iu, which is .5mg; some patients use 20 iu, which is 1mg), then the dose usually drops down once other meds are added to the cycle. I took 10iu (.5mg) for about 10 days, then they dropped it down to 5iu (.25mg) for the next 2 weeks. I didn't react to the Lupron in my IVF cycle anywhere near the way I did to Lupron Depot. I think the fact that the Lupron Depot was a bigger dose and hit my system all at once, while the Lupron in my IVF cycle was a steady, smaller dose, may have been the reason for this. In my IVF cycle, the Lupron did give me some headaches and moodiness, but it was nothing comapred to what the Lupron Depot put me through.

In both of my transfers I've done the Lupron Depot. This was what my clinic used. The Lupron depot is a slow release that usually lasts 3 weeks. With my first transfer I actually had 3, this time only one. My symptoms were mild. Headache at first, and then some hot flashes at night, not much more. Everyone is different though can have a different reaction to meds.

Lupron worked for me to suppress my system. The only reason I had so many injections the first time was because I needed to stay suppressed for a longer period of time before transfer.
