I didn't have any luck with Clomid but my RE put me on Femara and that seemed to produce some good folicles and then he gave me a trigger shot to complete ovulation. You might want to ask him if Femara would work for you? I have heard that allot of women have had success with it when they did not on clomid.

hello. i do not ovulate either. for this ivf (my third) i took 300 iu menopur daily and then an hcg shot for trigger. i'll follow up w/ endometrin suppositories and estrogen pills. oh and i will continue my baby aspirin after the retreival (which is tomorrow).
i do not have endometriosis, but i do have kallmans syndrome, so my pituitary glad doesn't produce FSH and LH. the menopur and hcg (novarel) has been working great so far - many follicles and good lining. i think i have at least 20 measurable follicles and my E2 yesterday was 1839. i take the menopur in my tummy (sub-q) and it is super easy. leaves a tiny little red dot, and occasionally a tiny bruise. a little sore too sometimes, but it's not bad at all. i had to wake up at 2:45am to give myself an intramuscular HCG shot last night and got cold feet. dh ended up doing it for me...and i didn't even feel the needle or anything. (we did it in my thigh). tomorrow is my egg retreival, and after that we'll really see how many mature eggs we got. hopefully a lot..........beta probably in 2 weeks. good luck! ![]() |

I wasn't ovulating either. Clomid at 150mg did make me ovulate, but we didn't get pregnant after 5 cycles at this dosage. We moved onto injectibles, although I was certainly not thrilled to do so. It really wasn't that bad. I was on Follistim. It comes with a pen that you load the Follistim vial into. You use the thinnest, shortest needle imaginable and inject it in your stomach, below the belly button. The first night I numbed my stomach with an ice cube and kept looking to make sure that the needle actually went in.....I couldn't feel it at all. After a few nights I tried it without the ice cube and I still usually couldn't feel it. I didn't look forward to the shots, but it wasn't bad at all.
As the follicles were maturing the first cycle, I also had to take a second shot (can't remember the name right now) to stop my body from ovulating prematurely. That shot came preloaded in a syringe with a slightly larger needle. That was easier to feel. I used ice, because I'm a wimp, and also because I was told by the RE's staff that that particular shot can leave you a little sore and pink for a while. It did that to me, too, so I used a little ice and all was well. Once the follicles were ready, I used a trigger shot that I gave myself. That wasn't bad either. I ended up only using ice the first few nights, and with that stop-ovulating shot. The rest were fine as is. I didn't pinch my stomach because I have plenty of extra stuff there already, but it said to in the directions. I had no side effects on the injections, and my body responded well to them. I would do it again in a heartbeat if we decide to try for a third. I was concerned about multiples, and you need to decide where your comfort zone is on that one and find out your RE's statistics and policies on that. But, it worked out well for us and I couldn't be happier. Also, once I triggered ovulation, I was prescribed progesterone (orally). I stopped somewhere around 8-12 weeks, whenever the doc said to. I didn't take aspirin. They didn't tell me to. Don't start taking anything like that or Robitussin (as some people do) unless you ask first. Some people really need it, but some people don't, and I would run everything past your RE first. Good luck. If the shots work for you, you won't care later that you had to give yourself shots. You'll hold your precious baby, and say it was all worth it, many times over, and remember all that you went through to have him/her.
