When I had my first appointment with my RE, I did have an exam because as it turns out my appointment happened to be on CD1, and she wanted to see what my baseline looked like. She went over all of my medical history, asked me questions about my cycles, and then did the exam. She sent me for a whole bunch of bloodwork, (hormone levels, metabolic screens, full PCOS workup, urine cortisol, etc) and then that same appointment we set up the HSG procedure. Then a month after that, we went for a followup for her to discuss what the course of action was going to be, and then the next month we got started with the injectables. Hope that helps a bit!
