What have youn all been doing to pay for treatments?

My insurance does not pay for any fertility treatments at all, everything is out of pockets.

I have been saving for everything. It looks like we will mostlikley have to do IVF.

My husband and I both work. He tries to put in as much overtime as he can. He also helps me on whatever crazy idea I have to try to make extra money. I also help my sister sell cosmetics on the side. On the holidays, like on Valentines and Easter we make baskets and sell them. We have also made some flower arrangements for mothers day. I also sell a famous brand of plastic dishes. Whatever I have left over I try to sell or raffle. I have been trying to safe as much as possible. I have save from my student loans and every paycheck. My RE has quoted me around $12,000 for a cycle of IVF.

My question to you all is what are you guys doing to save money for fertility treatments? Maybe we can get more ideas to help us out.

What put me through college was pet sitting. This of course would only work if you like pets...LOL. But cat sitting can be lucrative if you have a compassion for animals, and it is something that can be done on your schedule, ie feeding them before and after work. I did all kinds of animals and did housesitting as well, so I was gone a lot (which sucked!), but it paid for school!!!

Don't forget its tax deductible - so you can save ~20% there.

Put in the bank what you'd pay for childcare for a year and that will add up to IVF. You'll need that in your budget anyway. Our girl costs us $1k a month. We're doing this for IVF #2.

I like pets, as a matter of fact I have two of my own. I am going to try and look in to this. Thanks.

That sounds like a greta idea, I just think I would need to be a little less debt free to be able to put that much in to the bank. I just hope my first IVF works.

That sounds yummy. I have been trying to get my neigbors to get together for the Holidays and sell food like pies, cookies and tamales. I still need to convince them, if not I will just do it on my own.

I think, I should also have all of the money saved by February. I do not want to sound negative but I would like two have enough money for at least two IVF cycles, just in case the first one does not work, but God willing it will.

I see that you live in NM, what part?

I haven't done IVF but for my IUI cycles, I paid for everything right out of pocket (my insurance doesn't cover anything).

For the embryo donation, I putting away a little bit of money ever single month to cover everything. I will probably be waiting about 18 months for a match so I have plenty of time to save.

we have to pay for everything out of pocket, and i am not currently working right now. we are borrowing for all of the fertility costs, and also using the medical expense deductible. which i think is a percentage of your annual household income.

We worked our butts off . We decided not to opt for IVF because the % of success for our case vs the cost didn't appear to be a very good correlation.

My RE said that since I have Low ovarian resrve, she was going to overstimulate my ovaries to it fullest, lol. So hopefully I will have enough eggs to freeze.

If my RE and I are still on the same page, I will be doing my second and last IUI on the last days of Dec, so it looks like if I have to do the IVF it will probably be at the end of January.

I think El Paso, where I live is only a couple of hours away from your city. Are you see ing an RE in NM?

Yeah, my RE is Dr. Noble, I really like him, he has been awesome with us. Yeah I know it is a little expensive but he is also a specialist with my infertility condition which is endometriosis. Woh, $5,500 for ivf is a pretty good prize.
