has been a depressing week

DH went to the 3rd urologist and surprisingly he was saying that the left testicle was smaller than the right one ..the other two urologists did not even mention this..... i read online that usually the right one will be smaller for 85% men ...also the doctor was not able to diagnose the reason for low motility / morphology and count... he was suggesting that the small left testicle might have been the end result of the chicken pox which he got when he was a kid....has anyone of you faced this...the only option he was referring is to go for IVF....i don't know what to do and this entire week has been depressing for me.....can someone who is in such a situation please share your thoughts....

If he has low count and motility (like my DH) then why hasn't the urologist suggested meds, is what I'm wondering?

Sorry you got bad news. Hopefully it can turn around.

all the 3 urologists were saying that chlomid might not work for him....also in his latest blood work his FSH was little high around 6.5 and the dr was suggesting that chlomid might not work....his best SA was 8 mil /2ml which is like very low...so not sure what to do or what our options are.......also they did not recommend any medications for improving the SA ...has anyone taken any other medications other than chlomid.... please respond ...

My DH has azoospermia. No sperm present in ejaculate. We did IVF/ICSI. As a result we have two children. His issue was the sperm was there but couldn't get out. He was born missing his vas. It doesn't matter how they get the sperm, they only need one. i am sure IVF isnt the way you wanted to go but it is an option. My husband is taking fertilaid to help with the quality and quantity of sperm for our final IVF. We want to try for a 3rd child. It will be our last attempt since we feel blessed already. A 3rd would be a bonus. Good luck and stay positive. A healthy diet and a little excercise never hurt either.

8mil with 2ml isn't all that low. Thats 14mil total without knowing the motility. Arimidex is another drug given besides clomid. Is he taking any vitamins? If not i would get him on some kind and see if there is an improvement in 3 months. I wouldn't jump right to IVF just yet.

I can't remember what my DH's original numbers were but the urologist told us as well IVF was the only option. I waited a few years to consult with an RE and had him take vitamins like zinc and he also did FertilAid for like 6 mths. When we consulted with the RE she had us try IUI first since they wash the sperm and improve it to it's best! Although we have not had a viable pregnancy, IUI worked once and natural once resulting in a chemical so I was glad that I didn't pay for the IVF. Good luck!

My DH was put on HCG shots - but he didn't have any sperm in his ejaculate. His urologist wants to raise his testosterone levels before checking for any blockage or to do any biopsy. So far the shots are working.

Not sure if HCG shots would work in your situation.

My RE also has told us IVF is basically our only option even if the HCG shots work. She mentioned IUIs might work but with our insurance I don't want to waste it with IUIs - we would go directly to IVF.

Hope you guys are able to find answers. Were any of the three urologists you went to urologists that specialize in reproductive issues? My DH is seeing a reproductive urologist instead of just a normal one.

Best of luck!!!!!!

thanks for all the responses....the SA was 8mil / 2ml so it was like 4 mil /ml not the 16 mil/ml. the last
UR we went for was actually a fertility specialist...i also want to try out the fertility blends for improving the SA, which one is better...i heard that some of the medications need to be taken thrice a week ...doesn't this cause any side effects.. has anyone noticed any side effects ..can he take like 2/day ?..can you please post which fertility blend is good for the SA... thanks again..hope things change.....
