I don't have the homo MTHFR, but I do have two hetero allele's (which I've read has the same types of consequences as the homo) and I'm on Lovenox for the entire pregnancy until about a day (or maybe it's a little longer) before delivery...but pretty much every day for the whole time.

I have/had MTHFR and C677T I took lovenox from the start when we found out we were pg. also you will have to take the shots 6 weeks after you deliver. Either lovenox or heperin what ever you are on. I learned it was worth the shots 2 times a day for the 10 months ( 9 months for me Jason was a month early). There are ways to keep the bruising down too, it sounds hard to do shots on your self for a while but you get routine on it. Do it fast though do not try to shoftly put it in, it hurts more!

Thanks for the info. I was curious because my insurance charges $176 for a 1 month supply of lovenox, but a 3 month supply is only $35. I thought it was strange. If i will be on it awhile then I can get the 90 day supply. I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, is there any long term health issues i should be aware about, related to MTHFR?

My insurance is the exact same way...I do mail order on the Lovenox and order it 3 month supply at a time for $35 rather than $196 for a 30 day supply at the pharmacy. I would also ask your doctor to put you on extra Folic Acid (FOLGARD) and also ask about taking an 81mg baby aspirin every day as well. Good luck!

not that I know of, it mainly effects pregnancy from what I understand. Just be prrpaired when you go into the hospital for the sleeves they put on your legs to keep you from clotting ( they blow air on your legs) and to be on the shots for 6 weeks after you deliver. They will probably schedule you for a dleivery date to take you off the shots for a day as not to bleed a lot then put you back on them.

That is a good price for the meds, I was very lucky my husbands co paid for all of the price of the meds and the lovenox I was on was $1859.00 a month but we never paid anything but it is very expensive!

I'm so glad to have found this thread. I just found out today that I tested positive for MTHFR (double hetero). My RE said I need to do Lovenox, Folgard and baby aspirin for my upcoming IVF. I think he said only 12 weeks of Lovenox. I'm wondering if it's necessary for the entire pregnancy.

I was only on it for 12 weeks, but I am on baby aspirin and folgard throughout the pregnancy (probably stop the aspirin just before delivery).

Thanks, Jen, for the response. That makes me feel better knowing someone else is using it for just 12 weeks. Hope you are doing well. I saw your cute little belly on the other thread. Just adorable.
