I read an interesting article today on invitro egg maturation (IVM). IVM is where doctors remove immature eggs from the ovaries (unlike IVF, which used mature eggs). The eggs are then fertilized right away, ripened in a lab dish and then sperm is added. The article said the woman would only require 3 days of fertility drugs to gently stimulate her ovaries, unlike a couple of weeks with the conventional method. So far IVM has only produced 300 babies worldwide, but maybe one day it will become a another option for women seeking treatment for infertility.

Has anyone heard of this?

No, I haven't heard of this, however, any new procedure to get women pregnant I'm all for it, but by the time it becomes the norm to use it I will be well past my fertility years!

I hadn't heard of it either but I'm glad you posted the info. It's so great to hear new techniques and technologies to help men and women become parents. Really, IVF and the other IF processes have come so far since the 70s.
