Pregnant after HSG?

I had an HSG done yesterday and my doctor told us there would be an increased chance of conception this month. I've heard this from other sources, but was wondering how many of you have actually experienced this. We were going to take this month off from baby making to relax and enjoy a trip to Europe. But, now I'm rethinking it if there is a good chance that this could be the month. I really don't want to fly if there is a chance I could be pregnant or have morning sickness on vacation. I miscarried a year ago right after flying at 8 weeks and swore I'd never fly when we got pregnant again. I know flying doesn't hurt the baby, but of course I want to be super cautious after the last MC.

Wondering the same thing

My HSG is next week and I've been wondering the same thing...
My Doc says my chances of getting PG go up in the few months after the procedure... So if this is true, then how many of you have actually had this happen?

Of course I have considered that if the HSG shows a blockage and it is removed then understandably the PG rate goes up, but what if there is no blockage...

I can't be speak from personal experience as I did not conceive after my HSG, however, I have two friends who were. Their parents had an HSG and within the next three months they were expecting. So here is hoping! How long did you plan on vacationing for? Obviously depending on when you go and where you are in your cycle will help you to figure out the flying thing. I don't think there is an issue flying in early pregnancy, especially when you don't even know you are pregnant. However, I do understand your fear after your loss. I too said I wouldn't do certain things I did the first time around and I still haven't!

Exactly-Mine showed no blockage. But I had a lot of pain when the dye went through, so I'm wondering if the dye pushed something out. My doctor thinks I may have ENDO and if that's the case, would the HSG do anything to help in my chances of conception? If my progesterone levels come back normal and DH checks out o.k. we'll do the LAP(and if I don't get pregnant).

I know three people who got prego the month after their hsg. Two of them had been tying for 18-24 mo, they both had infertility problems. The other had it because of an eptopic and the tube remained blocked, and she still got prego with only one tube. I had mine last month and didn't get prego last month but I have different problems. You can't get prego with my elevated P4 levels.

I got pregnant during the first couple months after my HSG! We lost that little one, but it did work. I have heard that you have an increased chance for 3 months.

Regarding traveling, I really wouldn't worry about it at this point. I think it would be a shame to cancel a trip to Europe for something that may or may not work. For a while, I was making all of my life plans (vacations, work, etc.) around when I thought I was going to conceive/have my baby, but it just didn't work. And then I was disappointed that I had missed out on some fun opportunities because I thought I might conceive that month. I finally gave up on that and decided to just live my life and if we were meant to have a baby at that time, then we would. You have to make the choice that is best of you though. Best of luck!!

I hate how I've let ttc take over my life. I was reluctant to even book the trip, but DH said the same thing about not missing out on life when we don't even know if we'll be pregnant. We're trying to make plans for next summer, possibly another trip to Europe for DH's job. I freak myself out saying, what if I'm pregnant. Then I get even more freaked out thinking what if I'm NOT pregnant.

I had one in September, I think I may be PG now. I'm really confused as yesterday I got a BFP on a digital HPT, but tried two other different tests and BFN. I'm waiting to hear from my OB to try and go in for blood. I have heard others get PG within 2-3 months after HSG. For example, one of my best friend's mom had her then coudn't get PG and had the HSG, boom her sister was conceived that month!

I agree with not planning your life as much as possible around it. Maybe the trip will help you relax a little.

Good luck!
