That is a very good question. I am taking Prometrium just because I'm told to, but I am not entirely sure how it's supposed to work. Hopefully some of the other ladies can help you out!

the way i understand the suppositories it that it has very little effect on the blood.....however due to the placement (location) where they are going, it does it's job by supplying the progesterone through the skin to assist the uterus in strenthening uterine wall and keeping the os (opening of the cervix) closed.
PIO has a direct effect on the P4 in the blood. |
