Follistim and or Ovidrel Success??

Hi everyone!
I am wondering if anyone would be able to share any success stories that they have experienced on the Follistim and/or Ovidrel injectibles??
Since my last two miscarriages, my RE has suggested using injectibles to give me better egg quality along with IUI. I hope this will help me sustain the pregnancy.... as that seems to be my problem. All tests have come back good so we are moving on to iui next cycle... i am soooo nervous! Especially at the thought of multiples!!!
Thanks everyone in advance for sharing!
Marissa

I had am currently just over 20w pregnant from a combined Clomid/Follistim cycle that also included an Ovidrel trigger. My RE never mentioned anything about improved egg quality with injectibles, but I haven't heard anything otherwise either. I know when we're ready to try for #2 I'll definitely be starting with Follistim. The only side effect I remember was increased moodiness, specifically crying at insignificant things. I can't be 100% sure it was the injections since I had taken the Clomid too. The injections themself were nothing. I was so nervous at first but I pretty much didn't feel a thing. The Follistim needles are so incredibly tiny.. 29 guage if you know anything needle size. The Ovidrel is slightly larger.. I think maybe 25-27 guage and I felt that one more, but it still didn't hurt. Good luck to you!

I am on cycle 2 of follistim...although the first cycle went really well, I had a . So on to round #2. I don't really have too many side effects...I do get a little irritation at my injection site with the 150 dose vs. the 75 dosage I started on. The needles are super tiny! I had terrible mood swings on clomid, but not really on follistim. I know the thought of multiples can be a bit scary, but we have come this far...we can handle multiples! haha! ( I say that now!) Good luck on your cycle!

By the way, Jenny...congrats on your pregnancy...you give the rest of us hope! That is super exciting for you!!!!

Hi Marissa! I'm planning on starting my injectibles this cycles (hopefully in a few days) - Follistim+ Ovidrel. I had 3 m/c's and all our tests came back fine as well. My RE told us to go with injectibles right away and the reason to do it to increase number of eggs so we can have a better shot of successful pregnancy. We decided to try Clomid first and I had my first IUI with Clomid 100mg + Ovidrel last cycle and I got . Tomorrow morning I'm calling my doc to see if I can start injectibles on Tuesday. Good Luck!

First month with injectables/IUI

Aug. was my first month with the injectables. I Follistim and Ovidrel too. I was on Clomid for 6 months prior and was a crazy women!!! It seems like it has the same effect on everyone! I produced 2 nice follies, but when I went in for my postcoital test, he found that my mucus kills his sperm! We did an IUI the next day and am praying that it works!
Has anyone had a problem like this?

It is so nice to hear success stories! I just want to say congratulations to all you mommies to be!! You give me hope!!!

I just started my follistim injection on the 21st. I was SO nervous, it took like 20 minutes for me to get the courage for the shot. But once I got it it was smooth sailing. It doesn't even hurt. I go to my RE tomorrow to find out when I can do my Ovidrel shot. I'm really for a ...But then again, who isn't on this site?!?! Thank you for all of the success stories ladies, it really helps me keep hope.

I was the same way. I was so nervous about it that DH stayed home from work the first night (he works 2nd shift and I had to do the shots between 6-8pm). I just didn't want to be alone when I was jabbing a needle into my stomach Turns out he stayed home for nothing. Best of luck to you!!

I am using the follistim for the 3rd month, but am new to using the Ovridel shot this month. I just received it in the mail today. What is the standard dosage for ovulation or what did you all use? Also it has a huge air bubble in it, am i supposed to get that out or inject the air with the medicine? Where did you all give your ovridel at? Thanks!

after 3 cycles of clomid a cycle of femara all with I started a follistim + ovidrel cycle. The injections freaked me out at first, but my dh did them and all was well... but I was not responding. I have pcos so I had about 20 follicles, but nothing over 5mm. I continued to inject for 22 days until I got one nice juicy follicle. I did the ovidrel the next day... did the for 4 days and got my on wednesday!!! So... all you need is one big one. Follistim did wonders for my uterine lining which allowed the baby to implant! Only bad thing about the injections was how long I took to respond... and after awhile we were doing shots on top of shots on top of bruises... no fun. But our little one will make it SO worth it in the end!!! Good luck!!
