No Luck With Follistim

I have gone through 2 cycles with follistim injections and it did not stimulate my ovaries. I had a lot of follicles but they only got between 5mm-6mm. I'm so upset and not sure what is going on. My re says we will try again and he will adjust my dosage. First cycle I injected 75iu's and second cycle I injected 150iu's and 75iu's, at first my estradiol was up but then it dropped. Just curious if anyone else out there has had this problem.

Yeah, it sounds like you need a higher dose. I'm not sure how old you are but sometimes as we get older, the ovaries get a little more resistant and it takes higher doses to grow those follies. I didn't have too much luck with Follistim but did better with Gonal-F. It's just a different brand but sometimes changing it up can make a difference. Because I'm 37 and have diminished ovarian reserve, I needed 300IU to get my follicles to grow. I hope next cycle is better for you.

Thanks for the response. I just turned 36. My re says I have a lot of follicles, they just are not maturing. Hopefully the next cycle we will get it right Good luck with the IVF.

I was on Follistim for IVF and was labeled a poor responder. Not sure of what my next protocol will be but I know it will include menopur.
