Second Trigger

Hi everyone! this is my first post, but I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with. I use the Gonal-f injections then Novarel to trigger. They have me do one trigger on the date that the eggs are large enough and BD for 3 days, but then have me do a second one about 6 days later. Does anyone know the purpose of the second one if I have already done the first one and BD'd? I am having trouble figuring it out.

Hmmm, I've never heard of that. I used Gonal F as well but I only triggered once and that was only once the follies were over 18's. I would definitly ask your doctor the purpose because it seems like alot of pain. Also, I always triggered (5 total medicated IUI's) with Ovidrel and it always did the trick so maybe ask him about that?

Some women are prescribed luteal hcg booster shots to help with their progesterone. Apparently it helps "trick" your body into thinking it's pregnant so that it keeps cranking out the progesterone. Is your second shot the same dosage as the actual trigger? Usually the booster shots are a lower dose. There are a few other older threads on the forums about the same thing. If you search the forums for "luteal hcg" they should come up.

Thank you both for your replies. It is a smaller dose that they do call a "booster". That does help me understand it much better.
