Ovridel

I am using the follistim for the 3rd month, but am new to using the Ovridel shot this month. I just received it in the mail today. What is the standard dosage for ovulation or what did you all use? Also it has a huge air bubble in it, am i supposed to get that out or inject the air with the medicine? Where did you all give your ovridel at? Thanks!

The Ovidrel prefilled syringe is usually 10,000iu (I think). I had a hard time finding any kind of dosage on the packaging with mine. The one I got came from the pharmacy at Rite Aid.. they're one of the few places in town that keeps it in stock. As for the air bubble, DO NOT inject it into yourself!! When it's time to do the shot, hold the syringe with the needle up, cap off and depress the plunger slowly until the air bubble is gone and a tiny drop of the liquid shows on the needle tip. Then inject the medicine into yourself. They should have told you do much the same thing with the Follistim pen. Best of luck to you.

Thats what I thought but it was just weird for their to be such a big bubble in it. I know with some medications like anticoags, you are supposed to inject the bubble so i thought maybe this was the reason why. Thanks!

I've used Ovidrel for all my cycles apart from the first (I used pregnyl first but it was too painful). My RE told me to leave the air bubble in it, it's there to ensure that you get the whole dose so there's none left in the actual needle. Because the meds are only injected into the fat under the skin, it will just dissolve. If it was going into a vein then you would definately make sure that there's no air in it. I would call your RE just to confirm it because they may do it differently with you guys (I'm from Australia). Good luck!

This is my 1st time using Ovridel. With my previous IUI's I used Novarel. I did the Ovridel last night at 9:00 pm and I didn't feel a thing after the injection, and I still don't feel anything. My IUI is tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. How do I know if the Ovridel is working to make me ovulate? With the Novarel I felt myself ovulate and there was some left over tenderness where I had the injection.

Any advise?

I did Ovidrel for all three of my IUI's. I did not feel my self ovulate. I believe I had a little tenderness right after the shot, but it went away quickly. I am sure you are fine. I normally don't feel as much as other women though. I had a dermoid cyst the size of a baseball on my right ovary and never felt that, so I guess I am not the norm though. Anyway, I am sure you are fine and even though you don't feel anything that you will ovulate for your IUI. Good luck and sending you some !!

Ovridel

Hi Jenn,

You never should inject with bubbles. This is what you should do to take out the bubbles. For example, if your doctor told to you take 225 u....bump up the dosage to 226u, squeeze out the extra unit..that should take care of the air bubbles. Good luck....I'll be taking the ovidrel on Monday, 8/8...I'm doing IVF....and my retrieval date is 8/10. Good luck to you.

Don't worry about not feeling anything as far as ovulation goes. I know I ovulated in the cycle before this last one and I never felt a thing. Granted, I didn't use a trigger shot in previous cycles, but I remember feeling ovulation pains years ago so I know you can feel them without the shot. A lot of women feel ovulation some cycles and not others so I really don't think it's anything to worry about. Best of luck to you!

Ya, I usually do feel my ovulation. I guess since it's a day away I am just over thinking. This is just my first natural IUI so my body feels much different by not being on the meds where you do feel action going on in your ovaries, granted there are more follies growing on med too so it's expected. I have one nice follie on my left that side that should be at 19 or 20mm by my IUI tomorrow

Thanks ladies for all of your info!
