Anyone had the hCG shot, and NOT ovulated?
I know I'm probably just over thinking it, but I'm wondering if the hCG ever fails at triggering ovulation.
Stupid me.. I thought it'd be fun to see what a positive pregnancy test looked like and I figured since I triggered 3 days ago there would be a ton of hCG in me still. Well, I POAS and it was negative. I know that I can't use that as an indication for anything, but now I've been thinking... I didn't have my OPK strips with me on our trip (also stupid, UGH!). I had the shot at 5pm Tuesday, Wednesday night (about 8) I had some red bleeding, and then this morning I had light spotting and cramps. I don't know if that could be all related to ovulation, or if the trigger didn't work. I only had one follicle, so I'm really nervous. Anyway.. any thoughts, or advice, or anyone with a similar situation? I appreciate any answers. I tried looking this all up online, but all I could find was info on implantation bleeding, miscarriages, and how HPT's work.. NOT helpful lol.

I'm really suprised about your hpt result. I triggered on Saturday am and when I tested this am I got a . I know its not me making hcg since implantation doesn't occur till around 10dpo, so I'm sure its the trigger shot. I didn't think it could be metabolized in three days, but maybe yours is just really fast. Do you have any bw or us scheduled that can confirm if you oved?I'm keeping for you and sending lots of your way.

Hey AlexisS - I just went to the POAS website and got this information on hcg triggers and hpts.
44. How long does it take synthetic hCG (trigger shot) to leave my body before I can test for pregnancy? Every woman's metabolism is different, but as a general rule of thumb, you should allow 1 day for every 1,000 units of hCG you injected. The standard hCG dose is 10,000 units; thus, 10 days after the shot, the synthetic hCG should be gone and you should be able to test for pregnancy without detecting the shot. However, you should ask your doctor what the recommended protocol for your dosage is. Some women choose to test daily to monitor the presence of the hCG in their bodies; once the synthetic hCG is gone, the tests become negative. If the hCG "comes back" and the HPT's turn positive again, it's likely due to a pregnancy and not the leftover hormone shot.

I was surprised too! lol I though, ok well I can finally see what a BFP looks like. But no... There was a VERY thin line. I expected it to be really dark, and pop up fast.
I looked online for probably an hour, looking for statistics of women who didn't ovulate and I couldn't find any. I found one question on Yahoo answers from a woman who didn't ovulate, and there was a response who had the same thing happen. But, that's two women on ALL of the Internet lol. I hope I'm just psyching myself out. You all know how it goes, 3 1/2 years of nothing. It's hard to believe, or even let myself hope, that it might work. I don't have any blood work scheduled, I guess I'll just wait and test on the 19th. Thank you ladies, for responding to all of you!

I have taken the HCG trigger shot before and not ovulated twice. Both times I had two follicles that were 19-20mm in size and went in for IUI, but never ovulated. It turns out my body wasn't absorbing the medicine when given as a subcutaneous injection. So, since then every time I need to trigger, I have to give myself the shot in my muscle (IM injection). It definitely hurts more, but it makes me ovulate!

My RE had me go for bloodwork one week after the trigger shot. The bw confirmed that I had ovulated. I would contact your doctor and ask for bloodwork to confirm ovulation or not. If you ARE one of the few who doesn't ovulate with the trigger shot, you need to know this so you can do something different next month and not waste a cycle.

My stim was sub-Q, but my trigger was intramuscular. Right now I'm currently on week 7 of bleeding. I took provera to stop the bleeding, it didn't work. Now I've been on the pill for 4 1/2 weeks (skipping the sugar pill week)and am still bleeding, although it has slowed down. I had to reschedule my appointment with the RE, so I have at least one more month before I can find out what's going on. At least I won't have this same doctor anymore. I don't think she knew what she was doing. I'm worried that if I bled this bad with only one stim shot, what will happen when I take them a few days in a row? The OB/GYN said I may have had a successful ovulation, and the sperm may have done its job, but I was bleeding so much it wouldn't have had a chance to implant. That is SO frustrating.. I feel like she just didn't even care. She also said I will probably be put on progesterone supplements my next cycle to prevent bleeding. I just have to wait and see I guess.. Thank you ladies for your replies, sorry it took me a few days to respond. I don't come here as much as before, because I'm in limbo.. nothing to contribute. Good luck and
to you!
