1st Round of Follistim

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and excited as there are so many ladies going thru what I'm going thru. My hubby and I have had 3 unsucessful IUI W/clomid and last month moved to injectibles. After my IUI 10/4 I had some serious bloating and discomfront due to my ovaries swelling, does anyone know how long it last? I know it can get worse if you are preggers, and hopefully I am, but other wise does it go away once AF shows?

hello there and welcome to you...i can only go by my own experience and wheni was on follistim last month i overstimmed so was extremely uncomfortable and bloated it went away about a week after i stopped taking the stims but i was also on provera and lupron to try to calm things back down...i would think even on your own tho if af shows up things will calm back down...if you are preggers then that is wonderful and you probably won't mind a little discomfort lol...however if your e2 was high and you are pregnant keep an eye out for signs of ohss....good luck to you and hope you get a bfp this weekend!

I also took Follistim and wished someone had told me to drink Gatorade sooner. It helps with OHSS greatly and fast! Drink some gatorade and good luck!

i've heard different things about the gatorade ladies...i really would ask your re's opinion about that...definitely important to stay hydrated but some think water and such is better than gatorade ...tho if you need the electrolytes pedialyte is better...don't know...i did drink gatorade when my e2 shot up and i was uncomfortable as all heck for a week...painful to walk...don't know if it woulda been worse or better without the gatorade...looks like i will get a new chance to find out soon tho lol....

Hi DylansMommy,

I just had my first cycle of overstimming, and am wondering what they did differently this month for you. Are they changing your meds or dropping your dose or what? Did they try talking you into an IVF cycle instead? How many follies did you have any what was your E2? I've heard of people with E2s in the thousands, but mine was only 700 and I could barely walk my ovaries were so sore. Will definitely try to the Gatorade trick if that happens next time.....I'm still feeling a little pain (cycle was cancelled Sunday), but every day seems progressively better.

Good luck to you all!

8/09- Menopur produces one 19.5 follie

8/21/09 Karotype test reveals low-level mosaicism for Turner Syndrome, geneticists unable to shed much light on how this will effect fertility

9/09- Menopur produces lots of 14 mm follies that fizzle from lack of E2....cycle cancelled

10/09- BCP to reset cycle...a welcome break!

AMH test done 9/26/09 and comes back at 6.7 "very good reserve"

10/30/09- Gonal F AND Menopur
11/6/09- LOTS of follies from 10-12 mm. E2 at 306...a record for me!!
11/8/09- UGH too MANY follies...E2 729, 10+ follies over 15 mm. Cycle cancelled

hi dear so sorry your cycle was canceled ...frustrating as heck...my e2 the first canceled cycle was almost 3000 and i had tons of follies so they canceled that i was uncomfortable as i think i ever want to be lol...the next cycle they started me on half the dose they had the previous time and my e2 was still climbing a little fast so they dropped me down again and my e2 dropped...it seems to be trial and error for at least one cycle...hopefully they start you on a lower dose and you get the perfect numbers...becuz of my overstim issues we are thinking ivf...my re recomends it of course lol...better odds and more control...i had surgery yesterday and found out my blocked tube was not really blocked so now we are more likely to do an ivf cycle ...i really don't want to go thru the canceled cycle dye to overstim and the having to do the iui maybe before i get a mature follie becuz i have too many growing and get a bfn...i shall find out for sure what we will do next week at my post op appt....best of luck to you hon...keep me updated
