about to start injections.....

My husband and I have been married almost 6 years. We have never not tried to get pregnant. In 2004, we started trying with clomid. No luck. Four months and nothing. We waited awhile, and in 2008, I started seeing a specialist. All bloodwork came back normal, HSG looked good. I have PCOS. I don't ovulate. I do have follicles. This month, I am starting Follistim, Novarel, and Endometrin. I will take provera first for 10 days. I know the risks and the possibility of it not working the first time.

These are my main questions:
1. I have good follicles, is this a good sign?
2. How long from the time I start provera (10 days)......to the time I have the IUI?

nell wanted to wish you luck and also say that with pcos you are at a greater risk for overstim...i have been there...it may work the first time or your cycle may have to be canceled becuz you overstim...the first cycle seems to be trial and error for some docs to figure out which dosage of meds works best for you...we all react differently and some take more time than others as well.

my re seems to think it is a good sign that i respond well to the stims...but just that you produce follicles is not necessarily enough ...it is also the quality of the eggs produced and whether you have any male factor thrown in...

i was on 10 days of provera for my first attempt at iui and follistim injectibles unfortunately my first attempt was canceled...i took the provera for 10 days got my period in 2 days went in on cd3 for baseline u/s started stims on cd5 i stimmed for 4 days before i was canceled due to high risk for ohss 4 days of stimms and my e2 was over 2900...that was 21 days total if i woulda stimmed in a more controlled manner i woulda probably been at or around 28 days for iui...everyone can vary greatly for the time and also if you stim a little slower it seems to lead to a more quality follicle...don't put too much into the time it takes...it could even vary from cycle to cycle lol...the best of luck to you...it has worked the first try for some lucky ladies and maybe you will be one of those few...

I'm so nervous- I start my Follistim injections tonight (CD8). How did you all store your Follistim while doing the injections? I currently have it in the fridge, but should I keep it at room temp after I do the first one?

Keeping my fingers crossed- today is my birthday so I know what i'm wishing for- a BFP!

i would read the instructions for all your meds they tell you how to store them...i used follistim and kept it in the refridgerator until about 30 mins before use and then put it back in the refrigerator...the second time once i opened the vial i kept it at room temp....just to see which one was more convenient...good luck

Keep it in the fridge.

Masa, there's no one correct treatment, even for PCOS patients. PCOS has a lot of different symptoms involved, and your doctor will try to address different ones to help aid your fertility. Each patient responds differently to meds as well. It's a bit of trial and error, but once you find what works for you, it'll be great! You can see my signature for the process I went through. Clomid is usually the first medicine given for fertility treatment if the issue is ovulation.

I just started provera for 10 days.....so I have about 2 weeks before I even start the injections. I am so anxious. Does the specialist give me dosing instructions at my baseline sono.?

I want to keep telling myself and my husband there are so many chances that nothing will work to get my hopes down, so I won't be so let down.....but I want to stay positive. Although we are just starting injections....we have tried clomid about 4 yrs. ago which failed, and we have never not tried to get pregnant.

^ Yup. And if they don't tell you -- ask! Your doctor may very likely decide before your baseline what the dosage will be.

My dr. told me before baseline what my starting dosage would be. The nurse reiterated it at my baseline. Then, after my first follie check, they told me to keep it the same (sometimes they change it).
