getting surgery covered when insurance doesn't offer coverage?
Hey everyone,
My doctor is going to schedule me for a labroscopy and an HSG. He thinks the insurance company will cover the surgery if I'm in pain. Therefore, he scheduled me an office visit wherein I complain about pain. He then schedules me for the surgery and viola, the insurance company pays for it. It sounds great, but I'm curious if anyone has been successful with something like this. If I've been paying out-of-pocket for fertility treatments all of this time and suddenly need a labroscopy, is the insurance company going to KNOW it's for infertility? Or am I giving them far too much credit? Natalie

Natalie,
As long as he terms the test diagnostic versus infertility treatment insurance should cover it. That's what my RE is doing. It's unfortunate enough that insurance doesn't cover treatments and medications but for a test such as an HSG or lap that is needed to determine if there are issues within us women.......oh my!

My insurance does not cover IF but it did cover my HSG and couple other labs that were done.
Good luck.
