Bad 2nd Beta
Hi,
I am 15dpIUI and today had my second beta and did not have good results. My first beta was on THursday and was 85, and today's was only 126. The nurse who called with the results did not seem very positive and cautioned to look for signs of an ectopic pregnancy. I'm going back on Monday for another beta, but at this point don't have a lot of hope. We are fairly devastated - it was our first successful IUI to date. On one hand I'm glad to know that we were able to at least get pregnant, but now it's just slow torture with not knowing what is going on. Has anyone had a second beta be so bad and still had a successful pregnancy? -Kim

What time was your Beta taken on Thursday and what time was it taken on Saturday? Just asking because that can effect the numbers. I am hopeful for you!

Thanks for all the good thoughts! I'll know this afternoon what today's number is.
Toddsgirl- The first two were taken almost exactly 48 hours apart give or take 1 hour. I found some stat on line that said the doubling thing every 48-72 hours was true for 85% of pregnancies, and that it was possible to have low numbers in the beginning and still have a successful pregnancy. I'm kind of mad that i read that though, because now I have a little bit of hope and by yesterday evening I had pretty much accepted what I imagine the outcome will be. Ugh- now I'll just have to start all over this afternoon when I get the call. -Kim

Maybe all your prayers and good thoughts worked...today's number was not phenomenal but it wasn't horrible either. It was 211 which is almost exactly a 66% increase from Saturday. So I'll have another beta on Wednesday. I had pretty much written it off, and was convinced that the number would be lower today, so I am happy, but cautiously so.

Please don't give up hope. I had betas that did not double and now have a beautiful 9 month old. It took me about about a week and a half to see normal numbers.
