Thinking of Taking a Break the Rest of the Summer.....

Is this a bad idea??? We took of June not by choice, by my mistake of not getting my clomid in time... My period started 3 days earlier then normal and we BD on our own to see if we could get that way... What if I took off at least July if not August as well... Do you think I will have to start all over??? Should I still get my clomid and have us try on our own??

I don't see how taking time off would hurt anything. I've had 2 IUI and had to take a month off in between each one cuz of cysts. The RE didn't make a big deal out of it, just have to call at the beginning of the next cycle. And we try on our own anyway during the off months (no meds).

I think taking time off is a healthy thing both physically and emotionally. I'm taking August off if things don't work out for us this cycle. If so, I'm gonna sit back, drink gin and tonics and enjoy the rest of the summer! (oh, and try to drop a few pounds :-)

I agree with ally, if my IUI doesn't work this cycle, I think I am going to break until September. We have an appt for IVF consult anyways on July 22, so I'll go to that and probably take a break. I think this process is so physically and emotionally draining, sometimes a break can do the trick to get you Good luck with whatever you decide!

Well we have decided to take at least another month off. I will stay on my meds throught out the month and maybe that will help.... If not we will have our 3rd IUI in August and not sure what the plan is after that.

I Wish!!

Man, I really wish I could take the summer off. That was originally my intention since I am moving this month and also because DH only left me 4 popsicles for 6 months. (Not intentionally, we just never had the opportunity to go back and do another freeze) When I told my RE that I wanted to try maybe every other month, he said that he would like to see me try at least throughout the summer because I don't have that many eggs. That was a really scary thing to hear at 28 years old. I mean, he's worried about how many eggs I have so bad that he doesn't want me to take even a month off?

So I would say....if your RE is ok with it, go for it! There are so many things that could happen to where you might not have a chance to take a break in the future. Plus vacations are much more fun without raging hormones Have fun and good luck!!

I went on a break after our 3rd IUI for this month of July and I think I might just take the whole dang summer off! I've been considerably less obsessed with days and the timing of everything and I've just enjoyed myself a bit more. Hopefully that will put me in a better place if I decide to go forward with any more IUIs/IVF. I think we might be officially done with the science and moving on to adoption after trying naturally for a couple more months. Just do what makes you happy and taking a break is definitely sometimes a VERY good thing. This process is long and stressful and extremely emotional so sometimes you have to take a step back and just chill out and remember all the other good things going on around you!!! And...you just never know, you might get your BFP just when you least expect it.

Yeah, I'm taking a break for this cycle too (because we went out of town during tracking days), and I'm really enjoying not counting the days and being crazy on meds!!! I'm not sure if we'll do another IUI next month. I was planning on it, but I'm really loving having time off. I think we probably will.

My nurse said that the RE will change my meds for next (4th) IUI. He will reduce my dosage of clomid (HALLELUJAH), and give me a shot of bravelle, along with the normal ovidrel too. I'm hoping that I'll be less crazy since I'll have a lower dose of clomid (?).

...or are the side effects of bravelle just as bad?
