Question Difference between injectibles and clomid?

Question for you ladies on injectibles, is there supposed to be a difference in how the eggs fertalize and implant between injectibles and clomid?

If this month doesn't work my Dr is talking about doing injectibles. I respond well to clomid and injectibles are SO expensive but if people get better results maybe it's worth it?

Thanks!

That sounds like a familiar question I just brought up with my RE because if this iui doesn't work he wants me to try injectables in September. He said that it doesn't up your chances of getting pregnant more than clomid; it just helps to produce more follicles so the sperm have a better chance at reaching one that ruptures rather than just 1-2 follicles.

I respond well to clomid as well that it is hard to think about the injectable thing - so expensive! Good luck.

I am kind of new to this I guess, but I've noticed many posts commentings about having several follicles but my Dr seems to do things different. I started out taking 1/2 of a 50mg tab and got 3 follicles and he dropped me back to 1/4 tab of clomid. We have male factor and asked if our chances would be better if I had more follicles and he answered that "we only want one healthy baby" I'm just wonder if it his practice or maybe our situations are different.

YEstarday while doing IUI, I asked my RE the same question. I responded the same ti Clomid and inj, so I asked me why should i pay so much money for inj. He said Clomid is totally different world. it's not natural hormon, it's syntetic (sp?) and it doesn't go into you body very strong and it blockes Estrogen level that makes harder to concieve.
Inj is totally natural and doesn't block Estrogen level

My RE wanted to put me on injectables this month. i responded well to clomid but it was thining my lining. Doc told me that the injections would do the same things as the clomid but I wouldn't have to worry about my lining getting too thin. Has your RE said anything about your lining?

Thanks ladies, my lining has been fine the last 2 IUIs I had. I assume it will be fine this month too.

This will be my 3rd IUI and if it doesn't work I'm trying to decide if we'll do more IUIs w/ Clomid, move to IUI w/ injectible or if we go straight to IVF? The cost is huge, but so is our desire for a baby.... so tough...

Of course this month could work and all thins thinking will be unnecessary.
Any imput is appreciated.

From what I understand, clomid stimulates your brain to produce more of your own FSH (with lots of other side effects as well!), and injectibles are FSH extracted from the urine of post-menopausal women.

I did 3 clomid cycles and had 1-3 follicles mature each time, but this fourth one has been with injectibles. I did have one follicle this month that was larger than my previous ones (although all were above 18 at maturity), and I did see a WHOLE lot more smaller ones than on the clomid.

I, personally, think that even thought the REs know so much, that there is still even more that they don't know about our amazing bodies. I think that using injectibles instead of clomid sometimes produces better results for some people, but that they don't really know why. It should be just 2 different ways of accomplishing the same thing - and they just like to try a different route if the clomid hasn't been successful in producing conception.
