Question Question?

I had my first IUI yesterday, I was told that I have about 4 follies (mature) and my DH's count was 68.1 million.

The doctors expressed so much concern for multiples and as I said, none could even take (theoretically). Anyhow, my question is, how do the doctors know that I in fact ovulated? I took Ovidrel on the 4th and I had the IUI on the 6th. She did say that my cervical mucus was thick, is that an ovulation indicator?

Sorry for the dumb questions...I just find all of this so overwhelming.

Praying

First off, all the best to you! Second, your doc probably knows you ovulsted by the size of your follicles. Plus, triggering I've heard makes you ovulate between 36-48 hours later. So I think you're pretty good, considering you want the sperm already there when the egg comes. Hope this helps!

Just a correction: with Ovidrel you ovulate between 12 and 36 hours from when you took it. Your egg fertalizes after you ovulate, that is why they time it at 36 hours. But there is no guarantee that the follies contain eggs. The way to tell that you ovulated is with a progesterone test at 7dpiui. It should be, with a medicated cycle, over 15. Are they doing that test for you? It has to be done on 7dpiui and not before or after. Anyways... just watned to answer you. I also responded to your post in the July thread about multiples and the stats that were given to me. Goodluck!!!

No, I was only scheduled for a test in 2 weeks. Should I inquire about a progesterone test? I wonder why they didn't mention it.

Some don't do it unless there are known issues with ovulation or Leutal Phase. If you don't have those issues, you wouldn't really need the test. I have an LP issue where the period between my IUI or ovulation and AF is only 9 days. So we test it to make sure my levels are ok so we can correct it. But that is the way they could tell if you ovulated for sure... The medical rule is that anything over 5 is considered ovulatory. But they like to see it higher if medicated. You will be fine. I know hard to relax... but I have finally given in to relaxing and not over thinking things. It has helped me to not be so stressed about the cycles. (On #6 right now) I am generally an over thinker and a worrier. My mom says I am obsesssed. I am. I am obsessed with infertility and photography. I can't help it... Ok, got way off o a tangent there... sorry!

Good luck hun!

Good luck! My thoughts are DEFINITELY with you!!

I am obsessed too and I hate it. My DH gets so mad sometimes because I do stress so much. I have MS too so stressing it a double whammy.

My thoughts are with you too, your numbers seem good but then again I am new to all of this. It seems as though you mostly have 1 follie, too bad they couldn't boost that! <fingers crossed>

My OB orders a Progesterone on day 21 to make sure I ovulated. I believe if it's over 10 (or maybe 15) it means you ovulated. But check with your OB to be sure.
