I am so sorry for the BFN...those suck. Have you had a lap done yet? If you are in that much pain with AF, you should really consider it. I did not realize how painful my AF was until I had my lap, burned off endo and now I feel so much better. Just a suggestion, it might answer some questions.. Again, I am sorry for the BFN and I wish you the best of luck on whatever you decide to do next ![]()

A laporoscopy is surgery, They go through your belly button and other small incisions. Your doctor will look around. It is really the only way to see if you have endo or other adhesions. The doctor can then remove the endo and help "clean up" any other issues. It can help improve fertility. I never thought I had endo, but had stage II-III. My insurance covered most of it because of cramps/heavy bleeding. (They did not code it as Infertlity) It is something to ask your RE about at your appointment. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.

Mima, I had crazy bad cramps this past cycle and I never get cramps. I could not get out of the bed on Saturday and they woke me up in the middle of the night. The only thing I can attribute them to is all this medication.

My 2ww ended on July 27 when I started my STUPID Period. I'm holding off on the IUI this month. I need a mental and emotional break. My husband deploys on Aug 10. We have frozen to continue trying while he's gone. Just not sure how much more disappointment I can take. Especially without him around to lean on.

bbz - So sorry since I know exactly how you feel. My IUI failed too and I just had to let out a good cry b/c I was feeling defeated. That lasted a few days and then I was just ready to get things started again.
I have to say that it is more of an emotional roller coaster than I imagined. I am struggling today with some depression, but I am hoping that is just the Clomid talking b/c I don't really have anything going on that would make me depressed. It must be hard without your dh around for support. It would be difficult for me to do it alone, but hopefully this forum and your friends and family can be that support while he is gone.

Mima, don't give up! You've only had 2 IUI's. It could take up to 6 before you get pregnant, and you were only on clomid. Now, it's time to give injectables a go. There is a gal on here that had 7 IUI's before she got pregnant with TWINS, and her husband had low motility too. This is just the beginning for you honey. If it's your DH's swimmers that is the problem then maybe donor sperm is an answer. I don't know how you feel about going that route, but I know that there are tons of married women on here who are doing that. It is an option. For now, don't miss a cycle. It's worse on the body to take breaks. I did that last month because I was on vacation when AF came. I didn't take any meds and now I am on cd43 and still no AF. My RE said it was due to missing a cycle on meds.
Unfortunately, you will have to be out this month because you didn't start med on cd3. So, shoot for next cycle. I too had the most horrific period cramps after my fist IUI. I was in so much pain that I had to take vicodin to help me get through it. I understand it's due to the left over follies that turned to cysts that were shedding, or something like that. I think your next AF should be much better. Mine was. Stay in the game!!!!

Mindi, thanks alot for ur kind words of encouragement. i really want to keep on with iui's but the thing is each cycle im paying out of pocket.. even for the meds. my ins doesnt cover anything. im sure different states the cost is different. take my case for example. my HSG cost me $1000 out of pocket. for each cycle i pay $45 for clomid, $74 for ovidrel shot and $45 for prog supp. $315 per u/s (usually 3-4), 500 for 1 iui and 800 if its b2b. beta and prog blood work is $300. now do u see why i want to give up? its just too much. if my ins would cover it i would of course keep doing iuis.. i'd do 30 if i have to just to be preg but unfortunately thats not the case. idk what we're going to do. my appt is on the 19th so lets see what my RE says. as for donor sperm.. to be honest with you we wouldnt go that route. of course for me it would be easy because it would be my bio child but it wouldnt be his bio child and im sure he would have that in the back of his head. but heck.. worse comes to worse im sure we would talk about it i just dont even want to think about that right now. i guess this month ill just try nat. w/ an opk and pray it works or something..

Mima, It sure is tough that you have to pay for your fertility treatments out of pocket. I wouldn't be able to do mine if I didn't have insurance. However, it's not the cost of the u/s, iui's or the b/w that getting to me, it's the cost of DS that is the most expensive thing. My RE does b2b iui's when on a medicated cycle, so that is 2 vials for each iui. Ouch!
I looked over the costs you listed for each procedure and I find them to be extremely high. Even if I didn't have insurance, my HSG with my clinic would've been under $500. So, I can't understand how yours was $1000. Did you do some research on clinics in your area to see what each clinic's prices are? Maybe you you could shop around while you are taking some time off and search for a clinic whose fertility procedures are affordable for you. For my last iui I bought the majority of my injectables on a site called Shared Journey, Complete Guide to Infertility and Adoption. It's a place where you can buy all kinds of fertilty meds from women who no longer need them at a great price. It's worth a shot. Also, you shouldn't have to have b/w taken at everytime you go in for an iui. You can always tell your RE that you don't want to do b/w unless it is absolutely necessary. You definitely don't need to get a beta unless you got a BFP. Sounds to me that since you are only taking clomid, all you need to do is get an u/s to check on follie growth. If you know when you O than you don't even have to have a trigger shot. Really, all you need to do is OPK's, or you can check you BBT. You and your DH are still very young and will no doubt become pregnant.

Well we didn't have the best odds this month in our thread. This month I'll be doing a natural cycle and honestly am looking forward to it. It's the first time in months I haven't known exactly what day it was on first glance. (it's day 2) After thinking about it. I am in a hotel away from home for work and actually enjoyed a few beers tonight after a long day.
Mima, I hope you get the answers you're looking for. I don't know which way we'll go on the next cycle. If we'll move on to injectables or not is the question. The last 4 IUI's everything was 'perfect' so it is such a struggle to keep trying. I try to remember it is out of my hands. It's easier said than done as many of you struggling with infertility can relate with. Sometimes I just think that I am not meant to have children and try to accept that as my reality but that's difficult too. It is very difficult to go through all this and keep your chin up. Just know how much of a blessing it is to have a baby. And if you can't know that you did everything you could. That's my current motto anyways. Well anyways, good luck to many of you in the next cycle and those of you who have your BFP I hope we can all join you soon in the BFP threads.
