Horrible cramps after IUI

Hello everyone,

I had my 3rd IUI on July 16 in the am and I am experiencing the worst cramps ever right now. My first IUI was painless and I felt absolutely nothing. My second one I had spotting and some cramping for a day or two. But this is horrible. I was just out doing groceries, and had to go home. I found it hard to walk. Like my uterus has been scraped out or something.

Has anyone else experienced this? I tend to have a high pain tolerance, but now all I want to do is lay down and rest... so much for resuming 'normal' life... I am a running instructor and am supposed to work this weekend... Any ideas? Just take tylenol? How do you guys handle the pain?

Thanks for listening!

Hi Skittles,
Sorry you're in so much pain. I had horrible cramps after 1 cycle of IUI's, I couldn't stand up straight for 3 days! I have been told that this can happen and it is nothing to worry about. Obviously if the pain goes on for a while I would get it checked out but mine went away after 2-3 days.
Good luck and feel better!

Hi Skittles,
Yes, it was on about my 5th IUI that this happened, very weird! The previously ones had been totally painless but honestly the pain did go away!
Thanks for your well wishes, I"m testing on Monday so we'll see. It's my last IUI so my fingers are crossed that we won't have to take it to the next step but if we do, we do right?
Best of luck to you in your 2ww!

Wow, I do hope this is your last. My doctor wants to do only 3 before we go on to the next options. I hope we don't have to go on to the next step. I can't imagine any more stress, never mind the cost. Monday will be here before you know it! Wow, I bet you can't wait. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

BTW - felt great today.. Phew... apparently the pain does pass!

Hey there,
Glad you're feeling better!
I had 4 IUIs without any real diagnosed problem (besides hostile CF but the IUI bypases that.) they went in to check out what was going on and discovered endometriosis. They cleared it up so technically the IUI should work. I was told to have 2-3 IUI's and if it doens't work then to move on.
Unfortunately I feel like AF is coming on so I"m prepared for the worst...
Anyways, tomorrow is the day so we'll confirm things one way or another.
Good luck to you in your 2ww
