Please help - follies not growing much

Ok, I started menopur 75 IU on day 5 of my cycle. Had US on CD9 and they find 3 follies 9mm, 8mm, 8mm. My RE said to start taking menopur 150 IUI (double). Today I had my US CD11 and the follies 9mm, 8,5mm, 8,5mm. It;s not growing. Re said continiue with Menopur 150IU and come in 2 days.

I'm starting to become nerveous. I'm so moody now becuase of all the hormons in my body, and I was just crying after the nurse called

Did someone had the same thing and still got pg? (we are doing IUI)

I'm not even talking about financial side - we have no insurance and every blood test and US cost me 500$. And if the follies growing slowly, that's mean more bloodtests and US

Hi there.

I thought the the same thing with my first injectable cycle...and mine never get much bigger than yours usually about 12-14 by IUI time. I asked the nurses about that and they said that my dr tries to control for multiple births so doesn't want too many follies, too big (because if they are too big - they may be too mature for fertilization) and since I'm young (31) that he doesn't want too much meds to damage or hyperstim my ovaries. So even though I read alot about ladies with 17-28 size follies I trust my dr and I'm going with it.

Since its your first injectable cycle, he may be trying to get a read on how your body will respond as well to the meds so that could be why they are starting you at the doses and see what happens.

Good luck and here's to our !

My follies grew very slowly. I started on 50 of Follistim and did that for an entire week. I didn't have a follie over 10mm. I then was bumped up to 75 for another week. I ended up with one follie at 17mm and 2 at 14mm. My doctor goes very slow because they will not do an IUI with more than 3 mature follicles. I was so stressed and upset about it (we actually missed our vacation because it took so long for my follies to mature). But they ended up great and we have our IUI tomorrow!!

update

Ok, today is CD13 and I just made 9-th shot of menopur. US showed today that 1 follicie is small 7 sm and 2 are slowly groing - 11 mm (2 days ago the were 8,5)
My RE called me today and he was very happy with that. He said to go with 150 IU of Menopur and come back on Sunday,
And he said that we will do IUI next week
O, G-d, i'm so nerveous. I thought we will do max of 5 shots and finish. But right now it will be 11 shots, maybe more.........

I'm so nerveous from the whole situation of slowly growing..... (actually, usually i have late ovulation, so maybe it's normal to grow slow????)

I would always go in on day seven and have a few leads around 10 and they would always say your growing them nice and slow and then by day 10 I would have 3 mature and have to trigger because of risk of having too many. I hyperstimulated twice and it is not fun, your doctor is trying to avoid that at all costs. I know on average they say follies grow about 2mm a day but I have had mine jump 12mm in size in 2 or 3 days. I do have PCOS which may be some of the issue. I guess what I am trying to say is follies can seem slow and then grow rapidly.

I just went through the same thing you are going through. This was my first round of injectables, I kept going in every 5 days for a scan and nothing follies not growing at all. I started to think injectables weren't going to work for me either. After 3 weeks of injecting and going back every 5 days all of a sudden they were huge. Hang in there they will grow, they just need to get your dose right and they don't want to overstimulate your ovaries either.
